Very Dissappointed

I bought this item and was staggered by the lack of engineering execution. I am a highly experienced skater and have been skating for over 30 years. I was very disappointed with the difficulty of the latching system; the top buckle couldn't be tightened effectively past it's own cumbersome design to make my calve snug; my leg remained loose in the boot and provided no lateral support. The latches are nearly impossible to disengage; I own ski boots from the 90's with an easier and smoother function than this skate. And instead of just adding a simple third buckle closer to the toe, Rollerblade included utterly useless laces over a hard shell design with no place to easily tie or tuck them. Lastly, there was not nearly enough cushion around the ankle area and my ankles were in pain simply wearing them while sitting down for 20 minutes. I've never experienced such an uncomfortable boot. My only conclusion is that the engineers took too much liberty trying to come up with a new design instead of focusing on the skater themselves. It feels like this skate was designed in a computer not an athlete. The wheels and bearings seemed exceptionally smooth overall, but the third wheel on the right skate wobbled for no reason. Axle was tight but there must have been a defect in the bracket. For the price this was a waste of my time; I was hoping that this skate would have been an investment for years to come. Inline skates have been around for over 4 decades, the recipe is not difficult and this particular model falls short of it's undeserved price tag.

Great Cross-training Skate!

I'm back on inlines after 22+ years off skates (last on 5-wheel/80mm Simmons, RacerBlades, and ProBlades in 1999 - as a 10+ year ultra-distance road skater: A2A, NY100K, etc.) - and the Maxxum XT did not disappoint. Great boot, liner, height, & wheel-size @90mm: good support, comfortable, not too much of a jump in height (80mm>90mm), solid wheels & fast bearings. Extremely satisfied. If I make the jump to 110mm wheels, would plan to get these in that size (I'd get the 125mm boots, and downsize the wheels). Rollerblade has always been a superb operation: professional, prompt, thorough, safe, and they deliver what they represent. I will definitely continue doing business with them. Thank you on all counts.
