Comfort & Durability Are Solid.

The GTX-4 has been my only hiking boot for 6 years now. I am 5'-9", 180# with my boots on, and my day pack ranges from 25#-30#. There are many great boots out there but the GTX-4 is the only boot that's held up to the harsh environments I hike in. We hike cross country in the Mohave Desert, not groomed trails. A burro trail is a luxury. The life and reliability of my GTX depends on the terrain we hike, my pack load, and routine maintenance. Something too many hikers disregard. On average I get about 225 miles out of a pair of boots in a six month hiking season. I know because I track each pair of boots. Towards the end of the boot life you will begin feeling more of the trail, especially under a moderate to heavy load out. I read complaints from people who experienced "premature" boot failures. I have to ask, what is your body type, weight, actual miles hiked, terrain features, are your boots maintained per manufacturer recommendations? At my trail load out of 210#, I take every ounce of life out my GTX-4 in 225 miles, and go through two pair per year for the past 6 years. That equates to a penny a mile over the life of my boot. I call that deal for the comfort and durability I'm experiencing.

Salomon Quest 4 Gtx

The Salmon Quest 4 GTX are very comfortable, light and true to size i recommend these boots great product all around

Favorite All Around Boot

No break in. Comfortable and durable. Great grip on all surfaces.

Built For Demanding Terrain And Long-distance Trek

The boot is extremely durable while remaining comfortable. It felt slightly stiff on the first use, but after a 24 km break-in over two days, it adapted perfectly to my feet. Excellent ankle support prevents dangerous twists and slips. Waterproof performance is flawless: after crossing 26 small streams, my feet remained completely dry. Tested in snow as well, it provided outstanding warmth and protection. A reliable, high-performance boot for harsh conditions

Comfortable, Waterproof And Support

This is my first pair of Salomon hiking boots and I am quite satisfied with the performance of the boots. I've been wearing them on my extended walks to break them in in the snow and the comfort and support are excellent. The boots have provided waterproofing as well as my socks have remained dry even when walking through wet snow/slush.
