Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lacing system needs to go I have worn these for one month. I would rate them much higher if the lacing system was different. It causes bad pressure points across the forefoot and proximal mid foot. There is no way to selectively tighten the shoe. TO get the heel to stay snug, the circulation is cut off in the forefoot. Laces have slid out numerous times. I have been tripped twice and had to stop running at least 3 times per run. It is a shame because the shoe itself might be great. I love my other Solomens. I have been wearing their hiking shoes for years. I'm a surgeon and I wear them in the OR. Best shoes I have ever worn. So I am very bummed about these trail shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from sturdy, takes a beating I've been wearing this style since 2007 for hiking and trail running. They provide good support on uneven trails and the rubber provides the grip I need to navigate rocky terrain. I've never gotten a blister and unless the trail is super rocky, the cushion protects the balls and heels of my feet. I am disappointed that the older style with more rubber over the toes has been phased out. My big toes take a serious beating and that extra rubber helped - would love to have that back! The color combinations are also getting pretty awful so I stick to plain black.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from You’ve changed the shoe!!! The current model does not have the same shank / arch (midsole) support as previous models. Is this a cost cutting measure? It WAS a great shoe, but alas someone at Salomon has made a bad decision to make the support cushier/cheaper Look at the midsole on a 2016 and a 2017 model and one can see the difference. Still comfortable but doesn’t have the same support once carrying a pack.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from New Tongue Not Better I have bought a new pair of XA Pros every year for several years. They have been my go-to trail running shoe. They are comfortable enough I often wear them around town. Unfortunately they have redesigned the tongue / upper. The old tongue was minimalist and almost sock-like. I loved it. It was very cool in the summer and did not rub my ankle. This year the tongue is large and very padded. It is so large that it prevents me from properly tightening the lace system. It rubs my ankle in an uncomfortable way. And it is hot. Sadly I'm going to have to find me a different pair of trail shoes for the summer. I am very disappointed. The new tongue is similar to the tongue in the XA Pro GTX version. I tolerate the thickness in the XA Pro GTX because I wear those in the snow and the thicker fabric keeps the shoe warmer and keeps out snow. In addition, during the winter I can compensate for not being able to properly tighten the shoe by wearing thicker socks. But I don't see why anyone would want a thicker tongue for a lightweight runner designed to be worn in warm weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from light & supportive I feel that the XA Pro 3D gives me the support I need when carrying a backpack w/o the weight & clumsiness of a big boot. Plenty of toe room w/o going up a size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Product Well made, sturdy, great tread. Would have given 5 stars but they ran a little small.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Watch sizing There is no way these shoes are an actual mens size 11. They appear well constructed and are attractive but they simply do not fit right and hurt, so I no longer wear them. Will only buy sort shoes in person going forward.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Walking Shoes! These shoes are great for walking! LOVE LOVE the part that the toe is totally covered with the rubber (don't foresee toe poking through top like with other shoes!) They were stiffer to begin with more than other shoes but once worn in, hands down GREAT!
