[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my Saris Bones 3-Bike Car rack approximately 28 years ago and it is still going strong. I usually only carry one bike but would not hesitate to add a second bike. Due to its age, I probably wouldn't add a third one considering that time and weather may have weakened some of non-metal parts. It's been an amazing bike rack...highly recommend it! My daughter purchased one after seeing how well mine has performed!

I bought this rack to replace a Thule 2-bike trunk rack that offered no protection against bikes bumping the car. The design of this rack is genius! 3 bikes actually fit well & more easily than 2 bikes on the Thule, and because of the curved design, there is no contact with the car. The fixed straps hold bikes in place securely. I'm very happy with my purchase!

It made a dent on my minivan $1000 damage, very not happy

I bought this product after A LOT of research. I have had Thule's in the past, but for a long road trip with three bikes I felt I needed more support. I SO want to LOVE this product BUT--beware, it WILL rub the clear coat and some paint off your car. My car was 3 months old and in PERFECT condition. The hard plastic does rub! So my new car is now scarred. If it had some kind of softer padding it would have been perfect. It did not rock, it did not sway, it held even in 70 mile an hour head winds. PERFECT but for the horrible scarring of my new car.

I bought this rack 2 months ago, it is a very good quality and easy to use. But when I had to return my leased minivan - I have discovered the rack made a dent on the back door of the minivan. It might cast me to have it fixed $1,000. I tried to mount it on my SUV - it doesn't fit, check if your back door doesn't have a plastic piece on a top, it simply won't fit.

Saris Bones 3. First bike rack I've ever owned. So far it's worked out quite well. No scratches on my trunk or bumper. No issue with the mounting onto my car, except that it's a little tricky on the first try. Takes me a good 10 to 15 mins to mount onto my vehicle. Very stable on the road. Rubber mounts on the arms keeps the rack from slipping & helps prevent scratching your paint. The adjustable straps keeps the rack in place. While the anti-sway straps keeps my mountain bike secure. I love how it folds, and can be easily put away for storage. It's well designed and over all a good bike rack. The injected molded frame made with 100% recyclable materials is a plus, since you don't have to worry about rust occurring. Having a selection of colors to choose from is a nice touch. Be warned though. If your bike has an unconventional frame, It's important you purchase the Saris Bike Beam. It'll make mounting your bike a whole lot easier. And be sure to carry bungee cords. You'll need them to help keep wheels from rotating while commuting. ;)

The bike rack is sturdy and fairly easy to assemble

I bought this bike for my boyfriends 2011 Honda CRV- I was worried it wasn't going to fit but you can literally adjust this bike rack to fit any car! It works great! My only complaint is the way it fits my girl bike. The bike doesn't sit straight across. It's slanted up in the air but it still works.

Rack needs HATCH HUGGERS when used on my car year/model--2009 Subaru Outback 5 door wagon. Using this accessory limits the transport availability of the BONES 3 to 2 bikes. Hatch Huggers were not available through Dick's online. I had to purchase elsewhere.Rack transported 2 bikes very securely on 300 mile trip down the East Coast...no vibration or wind resistance felt at 65-70 mph.Hatch cannot be opened with rack on car.Check straps regularly for secure connection to car, especially after getting wet.Very easy to mount bikes to carrier. Security strap for seat post keeps bikes still. Good idea to use a bungee cord or leash to keep wheels from spinning.

The Bones 3 is a very stable and stylish trunk rack for up to three bicycles. We've only used it for two thus far, but it should handle like a dream with three.

Great bike rack. Takes a little adjusting at first, but once the adjustments are made, it's smooth sailing. Some reviews criticize the securing straps on this bike rack as being too long but all you have to do is tie them up and tuck them in - no big deal. The body is made out of durable plastic and the feet are rubber so you never have to worry about it rusting. Very secure. We did use two small bungee cords to hold the wheels - keep them from spinning, but other than that, all you need is the rack to secure the bikes. The only criticism I have is that it was a little pricey. But if it's easy to use and keeps the bikes secure, it's worth it.

This was a great investment, my husband had bought a bike rack probably 10 years ago. It was a dinosaur, as soon as the weather turned and I was wanting to go to the trail and ride my bike it was time to invest in a new bike rack. After looking at several and checking the reviews I was between two and then I thought it would be good to give to the cause of Breast Cancer. I made the right choice. I also use it almost every afternoon to pick up my son after he rides his BMX after school. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I like this bike rack because it's made well, sturdy and seems durable. The things I didn't like is that the side straps did not work for the middle of the bike rack. I use it for one bike and want to use the existing side straps and they don't reach to be able to utilize them. I ended up using bungee cords to keep the bike from swaying on the bike rack. I did end up purchasing an extender bar, so that I could get my girl's bike to stay on the rack. It would have been helpful if the sales person would have suggested this when I purchased the bike rack.

This rack was easy to set up and use. It is very secure. I have only used it with the max of 2 bikes on the outer two holders. I do have a hard top convertible (VW) and the side straps didn't perfectly fit they way they should, but it was maneuverable. I do wish you could still access the trunk or especially put my convertible down with it on.
