With the filter installed this way, you can fill your reservoir with dirty water and drink safe water from the tube
When you don’t need to filter water, unscrew the connections from the filter and simply screw them together to reconnect the tube – just remember to thoroughly clean a dirty reservoir before drinking from it without your Sawyer Filter

Nice Addition To My Sawyer Filter
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the inline adapters for those times I'm in a hurry and don't want to take time to filter the water before drinking. I used it this past weekend and it worked great. I attached it to my Platypus Drink Tube Kit, connected to my 1L Platypus collapsible bottles. A quick fill up of the bottles in the creek and your off and hiking again. Don't over tighten on the filter and there will be no leaks. Weighing only 2 oz, a must have for any hiker!
