Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the Appalachian Trail! I used this on a two day hike on the Appalachian Trail and it worked wonders. I used it on streams that yielded greenish and yellowish water and various springs only to be rewarded with absolutely clean and clear water. Its small size makes it great for hiking and the filter is simply powerful. It is long lasting and durable. Just make sure that when you are filling your bottle and you turn the filter and bag upside down that you don't have any stream water on the outside of the bag run down and into your bottle. Be sure to wipe off the outside of the pouch you filled with stream water to prevent this. Otherwise, its fantastic!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sawyer doesn’t stand behind warranty Following the post-hike cleaning recommendations direct by conversation with Sawyer's customer service (vinegar and/or hot-water) did not clear the filter. Though Sawyer Warranty Dept asks you to package well(bubble-wrap/shock absorption inside sturdy cardboard).. If they do repair it - they return it without bubble wrap, and it'll even get loose, banging from side to side in the return box (excessive shock for a filter). You're left with a filter of unknown reliability - which if you call for replacement - they'll do nothing. Skip buying a toss and replace filter - for buying from a Company who'll send you a free filter/parts on issue, like Platypus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have Piece of Gear This 2 oz water filter should be inside of every hikers pack. Not only is it a great and affordable piece of equipment, but recently I was hiking in the Sierra-Nevada mountains and my buddy's more expensive filter from his MSR water filter system clogged, I was able to use my Sawyer Mini as a replacement and we had plenty of clean and filtered glacier water to keep us hydrated! I would recommend this filter to anyone looking for a back up or primary water filter for under $25.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product and Lightweight I have been looking at water filters and chose the Sawyer MINI because it was very lightweight and highly recommended. The product worked great on my first backpack outing with it. The only minor issues were the bags are a little difficult to fill and I had to backwash the filter frequently because of the muddy water here in Louisiana. The filtered water actually tasted quite good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Guardia here... But! I bought this filter for a backcountry Alaskan fishing expedition. I was surprised by how much force was required to filter the water, which made using it as an inline filter difficult. Not as simple as I hoped. On a positive note, I did not contract any waterborne pathogens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and light Used this filter on my summit of Mt. Whitney. It was so small and lightweight that I had to give it a try. I didn't even try the pouch, instead I used a liter size water bottle both to filter for others in my party and like a straw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mexican vacation I brought this along on our trip to Cancun. I used this for all water we drank while there. We did not have one instance of GI troubles. I can't say the same for our friends who drank the bottled water without filtering. Highly recommend taking this along on any trip where water quality is questionable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sawyer MINI worked Great! The Sawyer MINI water filter worked like a charm on our recent 2-day hike thru "The Narrows" in Zion National Park. Obviously lightweight and easy to carry, and quite easy to use as well. We filled and re-filled our water bottles several times during the excursion. I recommend this product.
