Product Information:

Repel and kill those pesky ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers, mites and more than 55 other kinds of insects the next time you venture into the outdoors. The Sawyer ® Permethrin Clothing Insect Repellent is for use on your clothing, tents and other gear. A single application lasts through 6 washings.

Permethrin is odorless when dry. During the drying process it tightly bonds with the fibers of the treated garment. It will not stain or damage clothing, fabrics, plastics, finished surfaces or any of your outdoor gear. Permethrin clothing treatments have been determined to have "spatial repellency" against mosquitoes. Mosquitoes will swarm around you, but not land on your treated clothing and bite. Use by itself or with skin-applied repellents to build the ultimate protective barrier. Permethrin is a contact insecticide but non-toxic to humans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great against ticks I stumbled on this product while reading about a study to look at Lyme disease in the local, Lehigh Valley Pa, tick population. I treated my clothing as directed and after several trips hunting did not discover any ticks on me or my clothing. This was a promising result; but the real test was when I went into the woods a week or so later with a friend who had not used any treatment. We were in the woods for several hours in a heavily tick populated area. On our way home he found about 4-5 ticks on his clothing and arms. After arriving home he found a couple more on his body while showering. I, on the other hand, found no ticks what so ever! I'm sold on Permethrin!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 years now and not a tick since. I have been using this pump spray bottle type permethrin for 2 years now. I have a ton of ticks on my property and another property that I hunt frequently. I had enough of getting ticks on me an ripping them out of me. The final straw was when one caused me to get VERY sick (not Lyme, tests were negative). Since that day, I use this on my hunting clothes (again the spray type not aerosol for scent control reasons) and also coveralls that I use for working around my property. Not a tick since!Buy this and use it as directed. I soak it into my clothes the day before and it dries odorless. Last for weeks as stated. I refresh every other month roughly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective stuff. I moved to Brown County, Indiana from Eastern Massachusetts, which I thought was tick central. Eastern Massachusetts has nothing on Brown County when it comes to density of ticks. I try to spend an hour per day in the woods with my dog, who gets treated with Certifect once per month. I can't put Certifect on myself, but I can put Sawyer Permethrin on my clothes - socks, pants, shirt, hat. It works. Lyme disease is a bummer and well worth taking steps to avoid the vector that carries it.I purchased my first bottle in the turkey hunting section and then went back for more in the off season. A little harder to find but worth looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I couldn't believe it! I hunt in NW Missouri and have to walk through a couple miles of grassy fields and deep woods. Bugs have always been attracted to me for some reason but the terrain doesn't help. I always get ate up by bugs in the woods and come out picking more ticks than I could count. This turkey season I walked out with over 50 ticks! I've been looking for something scent less that I could use while hunting and nothing seems to work. I saw this on a hunting channel and was very skeptical. Used it for the first time yesterday and I couldn't believe it but walked out without one single tick!! It really works and I'll be a lifelong customer now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best chigger defense EVER! My wife bought the pump and the spray version of this for me in advance of hunting season. I've used the spray version before with some success, but application is tricky due to the aerosol spray. The pump version is easy to apply, little to no overspray and it's easy to apply exactly where you want it. I apply it heavily to shirt cuffs, neck hole and bottom hem on shirts and cuffs and waist on pants. I did some pretty serious scouting in tall grasses, cat tails, reeds, trees, etc (exactly where you expect to get chiggers) and not only did I not get chiggers, I had not ticks and mosquitoes stayed away as well. THIS STUFF WORKS. It is what the corpsmen in the Marine Corps use to treat utilities. Best chigger defense EVER!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sawyer Permethrin Insect Repellant I don't use this on clothing, although I know that some do. It is my opinion that it should not be in contact with the skin, which if sprayed on clothing and even allowed to dry, it can produce skin irritation especially in places that are more restrictive (waistband, etc.).I use it as a barrier along a side door to keep insects from getting into the house. When they crawl across it they die. I have used it up in the Peruvian rainforest/jungle to keep insects out of the sleeping areas in the same way. It really works, but people need to use it carefully like any other insecticide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The real deal. I read review after review, and still had my reservations. I bought it anyway, followed the instructions, and it worked like a champ. I happened to have my tent set up in my garage, where I treated my camping clothes, so I laid my socks over the screened top, and treated them that way. This allowed the overspray to coat my tent pretty good as well. I had zero problems with insect bites on my hiking trip. I also treated my backpack and my boonie hat. I did use "off" on my exposed arms, as extra precaution. Lots of bugs around, got "buzzed", but no bites. Good stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST TICK REPELLANT YET I have used this product for 2 years. I spend a lot of time hiking in the woods, on and off trails. After I spray my clothes, boots and pack with Sawyers I hardly ever see a tick on me. It does last through several washings. I suggest dedicated clothing for the woods only. I am not sure about the health risk of having this stuff in your clothes, especially when they get sweaty or otherwise wet. But the threat of Lyme disease is growing worse all the time here in the Northeast. This product is simply the BEST solution that I have found, no contest. Follow the instructions on the bottle. You do NOT apply this to your skin. It is a semi-permanent clothing treatment and it works!
