Why This Is For Schutt And Not Riddell
The pump itself will work for any helmet. The needle length is the difference. Schutt helmets have a deeper valve and require a longer needle. If you use the long needle to inflate a Riddell helmet you run the risk of pushing the needle not only through the valve but all the way through the bladder, and once there is a hole in the bladder it cannot be repaired.These air pumps are better than the Riddell pumps because they have a screw-in needle, rather than a pressure fit. Without the screw-in sometimes the needle will detach from the pump when you try to remove it from the helmet, allowing all the air to escape.Always remember to lubricate the needle when you inflate to avoid damaging the valve
