Poor Quality

After just a few years of light riding, the handlebars literally broke off the frame of the bike in the middle of a casual ride. The screw holding the handlebars to the frame broke in half. I only weigh about 160. Never going to buy a Schwinn or a bike at Dicks again.

I bought this for my son and he has loved this. Great fit for trail and road bike.

Great Recreation Bike

Wife and I bought matching bikes. We mostly just ride paved surfaces but may occasionally go off road so like the hybrid. Bike is lightweight. My only issues are: the chain will sometimes slip on the largest chainring when shifting to it and the shifter doesn’t have a visual to know when shifting gears. The female version does show you so don’t know why did that.

Great Bike For A Growing Teen

We bought this bike for our son, and it is what we need for a growing teen who wants to be active

A Decent Bike For Casual Riding

I’m reasonably satisfied with the bike considering the discounted price I paid but it has some problems. I find that it is comfortable, handles well and has good brakes. I’m disappointed by the drivetrain components. Gear shifts are rough, and the gears often skip or grind. Adjustments made marginal improvements but did not resolve all of the issues. Even though it is a low end bike, the drivetrain should work better. I feel that the drivetrain issues limit the bike to casual riding on terrain that does not require a lot of shifting through the full range of gears.

This a great bike and the staff was very helpfull.

Super At Price Point

I bought the woman's model. Matte wine color. I like that it's not as prissy as high-end hybrids. Nothing fancy here, just rock solid on our bumpy pothole roads. Not a true mountain bike, you get best of both worlds.

Perfect Bike For Me

I like my bike took me a while to find it but also I’m not the only one who likes it every time I take it to a store a bike shop people look at it and wonder who’s bike it is and even when I went to dicks for servicing the person working on the bike kept asking where I got it and if there’s any more available even an owner of a bike shop walked up to it shook his head went back to the cashier and asked who’s bike It was that it was nice etc so I’m keeping the bike just adding some stuff onto it though like bottle holder bag to keep spare parts inside in case I get a flat I can fix it and be on my way again

Very Bad Experience Buying A Schwinn Bike

I bought the bike on 05-08-2024 from Dick at Dulles town center in Virginia. first ride, got all kind of issues with the shifter. I thought after a few ride it will adjust itself automatically. never happened. got the bike back there. the gentleman there, very nice person. did some adjustments . next day after my standard ride which is 5 miles, the same. shifter would not shift and just rotate in place. called them talked to manager. asked to exchange the bike. she said after 24 hrs. they can not ( no one told me when I purchased it, or perhaps I had false assumption that any product has 30 days at least to return ). then she ordered me to bring it , for them to look at it and determine if I caused the issue??? or the product is defective. then she started teaching me how to bike and if I know how to shift ( I bike outdoor for almost 50 yrs. now ). anyway took the bike to my regular bike shop. they worked on it, adjusted and readjusted and finally made it work. they said the sifter is just a very cheap and bad one and very soon I need to replace it anyway.

Bike May Be Ok But Dick’s Assembly & Service Is Horrible

I’ve had the bike for a couple weeks. It seems fine. But Dick’s assembled it and I’ve had several problems that they can’t seem to fix. In the end I took it to another bike shop to get fixed. Issues: (1) Chain slips all the time. I took it back 2 times for adjustment, but they never could get it right. (2) There was a clicking sound on every rotation of the pedals. They couldn’t figure it out. Turns out, the pedals weren’t attached very well. (3) After about 2 weeks, the handle bar started getting loose. They hadn’t tightened that either. Overall, BAD experience. Fort Lauderdale store.

Follow-up After 1.5 Years

I previously reviewed this bike after four months of use, and wanted to follow-up today with some additional thoughts after one and a half years. There are a lot of positive reviews for this bike. I encourage the reader to also check which reviews "received an incentive" (marked with a little gift box icon). When I purchased this bike, I wanted to make sure I'd have a reliable means to commute to campus, so I got the extended warranty along with it (called the "No Sweat Protection Plan"). Many parts on the bike turned out to be low quality and broke after medium use for 1.5 years. As it turned out, DICK's was unable to fix many of these issues, and I am now left with an un-rideable bike after only 1.5 years. I paid extra for the warranty hoping for long-term durability, but now I still have to go and buy a new bike -- an expense that I can't really afford. On the positive, it seems that the frame is good quality. I don't see any cracks or rusting. On the negative side, these are some of the issues I have had with this bike since purchase: - The bottom bracket bearing had issues within months after purchase, but DICK's was unable or unwilling to fix the issue. Initially, this just caused excessive play in the pedals and some noise, but this week, the bearing finally completely disintegrated, making the bike un-rideable after only 1.5 years of medium use. - The brake cables stretched out within weeks of use (SAFETY concern). I would have to have them replaced for the second time in 1.5 years now, but I'm not going to bother due to the other issues. - The chain snapped in half after a couple months of use. Weird, but they replaced it, so that's okay. - The wheels are out-of-round. I never abused this bike; just commuting to and from campus and some rides for leisure on pavement. - The shifting mechanism has not been working properly since the start. Even after repeated adjustments, it just never worked quite right; skipping gears and grinding. - Several spots on the bike already started rusting. Rust is inevitable over longer time spans, but I have never had a bike rust this quickly before. Proper painting or galvanization of parts would prevent this, but it appears they cheaped out on that. In my mind, it is DICK's free business decision to sell low quality products. However, if you lure people in safety with an "extended warranty", I would expect them to honor this and make sure I have a rideable bike. Although they could not fix the bike, they also refused to meet me halfway with a partial refund. Apart from bringing the bike in to DICK's under the extended warranty three times, I also paid an independent bike mechanic go over it. He says that Schwinn quality has gone down significantly, and that these bikes are basically to be looked at as "disposable". The employees at DICK's are not to blame for not being able to fix my bike -- they tried their best, even cleaning the bike when I brought in -- but there's just not much they can do with these low quality parts. Long story short, this bike does not last long whatsoever. It might be fine for the occasional (once or twice a year) ride if you can get it for really, really cheap. But at the price I paid, I am very disappointed and I would advise anyone to buy a different brand. Don't be fooled -- Schwinn does not (or no longer) mean quality, and with the experience I have had, I also want to discourage you from giving DICK's your business in general.

Good Quality

Haven’t used it yet but looks like excellent quality. My son can’t wait for summer to come.
