Dicks Sporting Goods Should Not Be Allowed To Carry Bikes

I bought this bike for my grandson who was turning 9 years old. Everything started out good but we received a call after the purchase saying there was not a bike seat . They told us we would have to come in and cancel the order ,from the El Segundo store and go to another store 60 miles away. They did not make the purchase easy and when we took the bike with the generic seat, they forgot to put the kickstand I paid for and it was the wrong one. Ernie the manager never said he was sorry and never smiled. I asked them to call Scwinn to see if we could get another seat and they were like well I do not know. I called Schwinn and we are getting a new seat and the gentleman was so nice on the phone. All free of charge and he said he was sorry.

My son loves this bike. It’s his first mountain bike / gear bike and it has been great. I only wish it came with a kickstand. Other than that, it’s perfect for him.

Christmas present for my 7yr old son. A tiny bit on the big side, but that’s what I wanted. I wish it had disc brakes and a thumb shifter. For this price it works. I took off one star for no kick stand

Great Beginner Mountain Bike

I bought this for my 6 year old who loves mountain biking anywhere- especially trails. Only complaint is that the brakes are a little tough for his hands ti grip and pull. But, give it another year, and he’ll get the hang of it.

Gear Twist Shifter Is Tough For 7 Yr Old.

Bought this bike today and my son loved it! But he can not get the gears to change from 1 to 7. Why can’t this bike maker put Shimano TX30 shifter instead of tough twister to make it easy for the little hands? It’s only 14 bucks on Amazon. Yeah Dicks doesn’t even sell it. I might return the bike tomorrow.

Buyer Beware

I bought this for my son's 6th birthday. He could not be more happy to have a mountain bike. As he grew, we tried to adjust the handle bars and found out they are fixed and do not move. I reviewed the item on the Schwinn website as well as this website and it does not say anything about the issue. I reached out to Schwinn and I was told the item is not advertised as adjustable handlebars so that means they do not. This is very disheartening to hear from such a large bike maker

Difficult Shifting Mechanism

The handgrip shifter is too stiff for a young person to use.the bike has 7 speeds but trying to shift to anything below 3rd gear is almost impossible even for an adult. This is a common problem for this bike.

Solid Bike

Bought it red for my 6 year old son. He's about 41 inches tall. It was delivered and I assembled it myself in under 2 hours. He's had it for 2 weeks and never gets tired of riding it on trails and jumping off stuff. As far as quality of the bike, at this price point I would say most of the components are solid. The tires and wheels are great. The handlebar and grips are excellent. The seat is easily adjusted. After some practice my son can shift through the gears no problem. The frame is sturdy. The v-brakes supply adequate stopping power. Corners had to be cut somewhere though. The quality of the stock brake levers is sub-par. The reach can be adjusted with an Allen wrench for the small hands that use this bike. However I quickly bought and replaced them with better levers. The front shock seems cheap but it's holding up so far. The pedals are decent but will eventually get swapped out. Lastly the bike does not come with a kickstand so thats probably the next mod. Side note: Do bike manufacturers really need to stencil their names across the entire frame in massive lettering? *SMH*

Solid Boys Bike. Looks Sharp

Bought for a 6 year old. Barely fit but he needed an upgrade with gears. Looks sharp and works fine. Only issue is small hands have tough time changing gears. The dial is tough to move so he struggles. But other than that, happy with purchase.

Fun Bike!

Purchased this bike about a month ago which was assembled by Dicks. My 8 year old loves it. Rides it all the time. It appears that the bike was assembled well. No issues.

Nice Bike

I bought this bike for my 8 year old. It's a nice bike and looks really cool. I am shocked though that it does not come with a kickstand though. Just put one on and charge another $10! I do realize though a lot of bikes this style don't come with one. Schwinn bikes do make a clicking noise when not actively peddling. After research, I realized this was just a normal noise. Overall, happy with the bike and when he outgrows it, will likely go for the same bike just next size up.
