Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn’t last long enough to hate Picked it up last year. The first time out I thought it was awesome. The reel busted a few months in, so I threw one of my quantum’s on the rod and figured, hey at least the rod seems to be just a year later that snapped in half as well...better off just paying a little bit more out of the gate and getting a setup that is going to last past a year...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it for the reel I bought one of these as a light baitcaster to use for fishing trout from the shore....which it worked wonderfully well for. I liked it so much that I put a nice reel on it and started using it for largmouth. then I went back to the store and bought 4 more of these rods and put better reels on all of them except the one I use for trout. the other reviews are true about the is garbage, but $50 is well worth it for the rod. I wouldn't even bother using the reel, get rid of it as soon as you get it unless you only use it for casting trout from the shore, then the original reel works fine. I have had my first one of these rods for 4 years now and it just broke it today. I have caught around five thousand wish on that one rod, from trout to largemouth to striped bass to black rockfish to cabezone to lingcod and even salmon and halibut...all on that rod. I still have the other 4 rods, but I am going to buy a few more. the are great rods to buy, beat up, and not care about keeping pretty. And they will stand up to abuse (like lingcod and striped bass). But get rid of the reel that comes with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value! I bought this last year, rigged it up with 30lb test braided line. I live in Massachusetts, this rod works great with crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs. I got the 7 foot medium heavy, great look and feel, good casting distance, everyone thinks this combo costs 3-4x the price. It has held up fantastically, I mostly use it for largemouth fishing, but have also caught plenty of trout on it, I mean when I see trout rising, why would I not take a cast? This rod doesn’t have good topwater action, but is great for almost everything else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible bait caster! Rod awesome I bout this bait caster about 4 months ago for about 60.00, no matter how I adjusted the caster it would always fail. The rod in other hand has held up very well. After spending another 60.00 on real.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Combo I bought this rod and reel combo 2 months ago. I fish 3-5 times a week and am impressed with how well it preformed. My pb bass is 2 lbs but I hooked a 10 lb snakehead and it handled fine. The only thing I would say is that you really have to maintain the reel as after a few weeks it started making grinding noises. After I caught the snakehead the line guide on the reel stopped guiding. I opened up the reel (which they made user-friendly) and would rig ways to get the paw moving again. Unfortunately I had to get a new reel. But for the non-stop use I'm impressed. The rod is still in good shape although a eyelet popped off. It is still fishable!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good setup for first time baitcaster I've had it for a few weeks now. Caught a "40 Snook and the pole didn't snap. Reel is very smooth. Only way to improve would be a 1-piece rod

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't get wet I bought this and went fishing the next day. It was raining slightly while fishing. Dried off when done and put into rod sock. Next day reel skipped and grinds. Not very well sealed. Greased and oiled it it did a little better but still acted funny. Cheap combo and didn't expect much better from it for the price.
