Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Light Rig Set-up I bought the Alpha 30 reel to pair it with an Outcast light action rod and couldn't be happier with the set-up. I use it for light hard and soft stickbaits and have caught several multispecies fish with it. The drag is nice and smooth and overall the reel feels light and comfortable in your hands. Great reel at even a better price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value and Durability I use the bigger models for my 12 foot surf rods. Surf. Fishing abuses equipment, yet my Alphas last many years. They handle typical surf fish like pompano, whiting, reds, snook and even 6ft sharks fine. They can't be beat for the money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from alpha 20 reel I purchased this reel to replace a Shakespeare reel that was damaged beyond repair. This is a bit larger version of what I had and after a few trips to the lake with it I am totally satisfied with it. Great vaule.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage When I received it, I took it out of package and when I spun the reel it was clicking/hitting on something. Basically I can't use it. Only reason I bought it is because I have another one and I lost the spring for the drag. All I really needed was the was the the top peice with the line on it. Works great on my existing reel. The one I purchased as a whole is junk and doesn't work. Also dicks website said it comes with 20lb line, when I received it the package had a sticker over the specs that said 17lb line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great reel A great reel at a very good price, working very well so far. The main problem I experience from spinning reels is the bail closing unexpectedly during mid cast, quite a few do that. And "birds nests" coming off the reel. This reel doesn't have either problem, a good reel

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Reel I used the reel yesterday catching rockfish in the Chesapeake Bay. It's very smooth and light weight. The charter captain used it and is going to buy one for himself.
