Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Bigwaters get the job done. As a charter boat captain with 50 years experience I get to use many different rods from many different companies. My sponsors provide my rods at little or no cost. After watching dozens of broken rods, cracked guides and snapped tips I gave you Bigwaters a try. You can't beat the cost but more importantly you can't beat the quality. One by one I started replacing the rods on the boat. With these 2 recent purchases my count is up to 11. I recommend your rods to all my clients and friends and I'm sure you've seen an uptick of sales from my area. The SS guides are the best. Your rods take a beating everyday and always come back the next day ready to do battle again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very reliable, Great Value! I have been using these downrigger rods for several years now as a full time salmon guide in Puget Sound and they have stood up to the challenge. The first batch I got back around 2011 and we did manage to break a couple when setting hard off the downrigger ball and broke a couple ceramic guides. But the last three years the rods seem even tougher and haven’t broken one. Also the new titanium guides are much preferred for me as they stand up to 50 lb braid and don’t break out. Overall these are some of the best down rigger rods that can be bought for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I bought his for a special situation and it fits the bill perfectly. I will use this rod to fish deep water in the Gulf of Mexico. This Ugly Stik is excellent quality at any price. Rod packaged nicely and shipped as scheduled. Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome rod I've used ugly stika for years and I still use them today. After 20 plus years guiding I've yet to break one unbelievable. I pair the 8 6 light action rod with a abu Garcia line counter reel to tame even the biggest stripers out lake has to offer. The action makes fighting fish very user friendly. I will say I dislike the thicker butt. With my tube rod holders I have to cut it off but it's still works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surf Castingstongest I bought the 12' model. I have used Ugly Sticks for years and they stand up to the for many years of enjoyment. I've handled allot of rods in this length and this one is one of the lightest. Weight is a big factor when you are casting all day long looking for that BIG stripper. While you can't compare it to a custom rod, the quality is right up there. I haven't wet my line with this pole yet, but the construction seems to be spot on. I believe the new guides will stand up to the most demanding environments. Can't wait to get it out to the surf!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing rod Best rod ever. Last rod you could need for years. It is thick enough to stand up to saltwater. Yet nimble enough to cast lures and fish for bass, muskie, etc. I've used the smallest rattletrap i have, and the biggest bucktail i could find, and it handles it all no problem. Smooth strong eyelits, and a durable handle and rubber butt for added support. Overall the best rod for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shakespeare Ugly Stik Bigwater Casting Rod I have several Tiger rods that are excellent rods for the price then I saw these Bigwater rods, with the Black finish unlike the gold color of the Tigers I had to check these out. These are a little lighter than the Tigers and have the newer all Stainless guides, only 7 compared to the 9 on the Tiger with a great price you can't beat this rod. Check it out I think you will love it!
