She picked correctly lol other rods were overly small or without any backbone to them. This one is perfectly sensitive and has plenty of spine to pull some bass to the boat. Cast like a dream w no weight necessary. The reel is super smooth and balanced as well. This is a small enough without being 2 small to be practical for bass fishing. Handle length is short enough to be manipulated by shorter people. If you're considering this combo, be sure to give this one a squeeze at the store : )

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice rod: cheap reel The rod is a nice graphite ultralight with enough sensitivity to feel the lightest tap on your line. The reel is OK but has no switch to release the anti-reverse. I recommend the rod, but would change the reel for a better one.
