Had To Return A Malfunctioning Reel

This was my first time purchasing a shimano reel and I was pleased that it came in a box. However I think I received a defective reel. It was difficult to reel and would get stuck easily. Returned it.

Very Smooth

I bought this a few weeks ago and have not gotten a chance to use it yet, but the winding of the reel feels extremely smooth.

Best Saltwater Spinning Reel

Best reel Ive ever owned, works like magic, shimano knocked it out of the park. Smoothest fast acting reel Ive used. Love the live bait switch with the tensions knob. Reels in so smooth and has good casting distance

25 Years Later

25 years later my shimano 4500 Bait runner finally gave me trouble. anti reverse bearing wore out . for twenty five years if not more, this reel never gave me any problem

This Reel Is Fantastic.

I bought this reel 3 months ago and am very happy with its performance. The bait runner feature allows me to set the rod down without worrying that a fish might pull my rod and reel into the water while its not in my hand. It casts long distance too. I really like this reel.

Awesome Reel And Quality For Awesome Price!

I recently picked up my first Shimano Reel ever!!! BTR4000OC is the one I chose to go with for the option of having the ability to allow bait to run freely with out having to keep a bail flipped open. I like the freespool feature on my Penn Rival with clicker for this purpose as well. But I wanted a spinning reel and my local DSG did not have any Penn LL's in stock in store. I had toyed with the Shimano's many times in store but always walked away from them... Not because I didn't know the name, but just because of my love of Penns.. Anyhow back to the reel, I mated this reel to a 7' Berkley Lightning HD 1 piece rod with 14lb Cajun Mono backing and 30lb Sufix 832 Advanced. I took this combo out to the Apollo Beach park the next morning and caught a nice little red snapper on live bait. Then the next day the reel got the real test, I was jigging soft plastics with 15 lb flouro leader when I hooked into a good sized snook just above slot. This reel handled the snook like a dream, did not wear me out before wearing down the fish. I was able to land this snook but was unable to capture a picture as I was out in the water wading with out a camera. I do recommend this reel, will be purchasing the 8000 series to replace my worn out reel on my surf rod!

The Best Reels In The World

I'VE HAD ONE FOR THE LAST 7 YEARS ,I PROBABLY CAUGHT OVER 1000 BLUEFISH,OVER 200 DOG SHARKS,OVER 100 STRIPED BASS AND I CAN GO ON AND ON. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT, AND I NEVER GAVE IT ANY MAINTENANCE, DROPPED IT DOZENS OF TIMES ON SAND AND ON SALTWATER. IT IS BY FAR THE BEST REEL I EVER BOUGHT

Awesome Reel!!!

I've had the 12000D for over 3 years. That's after a lot of abuse, with little to no maintenance and never failed. Yes! it's a bit pricey but worth every penny of it. I do a lot of striped bass fishing and have no problem getting them onshore. Excellent reel and I would highly recommend it. Would choose this over Penn reels.

Smooth and duriable nurse shark was only 4 feet it was no problem

so far it is everything I come to know with shimano,like my other shimano reels .Now all I have to do is catch something on it.but casting it with 17lb. test line is great
