Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not enough instructions for fitting In Shock Doctor Ultra 2 STC product description there's cool features listed - including MORA. It states that when worn correctly, your lower jaw should be positioned down and forward. However, in the fitting instructions and videos in Youtube there is no pictures or any mention about this. If I just bite down straight on the mouthguard while fitting it, my lower front teeth bite the inside edge of the mouthguard and won't touch the bottom edge of the mouthguard (see attached picture). Am I doing it correctly or should I try to move my lower jaw forward when fitting to bite the bottom of the mouthguard with my lower teeth? It's hard to believe that there is no detailed instructions anywhere available about this feature if you want people to get their products fitted correctly!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for boxing I bought this mouth guard to use for boxing, but the front bottom portion of the guard is a hard plastic that actually caused a cut in mouth. I cut the bottom off with a razor but it became rough and I ended up throwing it away. I think it would be a great product for football or any other sport where a face mask is the first defense of protection. Although I gave it a low rating for boxing I would recommend it to a friend for other sports as indicated.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Bad Fit I recently bought this mouthguard for the use of this years Rugby League season, having high hopes about this particular mouthguard and its overall design. This, however, was contradicted. I found myself boiling and biting this mouthguard NINE TIMES (9), yet it still wasn't even close to moulding to my teeth, slipping out of my mouth effortlessly every single time. Correctly following the steps of the given instructions and video, none seemed to make a difference as I constantly applied the suggested techniques. Paying more money on a mouthguard than I usually would, I am thoroughly disappointed by the lack of quality of this mouthguard, and hope to purchase one that has a better fitting design in the near future.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from End broke off during my sons first football practice This is the 2nd year our highschool son has purchased the Shock Doctor Ultra 2 STC Convertible Mouth Guard. Last year the mouth guard lasted him the entire football season, but this year the back part that covers his molers broke apart during the first practice. I didnt try to return the mouth guard because he needed a mouth guard that next morning and evening for 2 practices. Very frustrated!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Takes some getting used to... The boil and bite operation was fine, particularly for the impression bite. However, the lower section (which lands on the bottom teeth) doesn't impress. This forces the mouthpiece to jut out as pressure from the jaw displaces the piece.I know need to reboil and really try to get some impressions on the underside of the mouthpiece to keep it in place. The breathing is easier, but I try to avoid breathing through the mouthpiece, as it's only occusal, and breathing otherwise is like breathing through a straw..... underwater.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not what I needed Neither the sizing information on the package nor the description of the mouthguard was helpful in selecting the appropriate product.I was instructed by the coach to purchase a mouthguard that was "heat-molded" for a custom fit. One would think that would be easily determined by the packaging, but the mouthguards are packaged in such a way that, not only is the description useless, it is impossible to determine by looking at it through the packaging. A Dick's sales associate was able to verify my selection, which ultimately was correct in type, but unusable in practice, as the moldable plastic, despite package assurances that it could be reheated and molded if incorrectly fitted initially, never quite fit the way it was supposed to.Ultimately, a waste of my money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Mouthguard on market My daughter is competitive in martial arts, and Shock Doctor is the only mouthguard we will ever buy. We've tried others, but Shock Doctor is the only one with a Dental guarantee. Not only does it protect her teeth but the fit is best for the jawline as well. It's one of the more pricey mouthguards on the market, but it's well worth the few extra dollars, not to mention if you buy directly from the manufacturer, you'll pay more than at Dicks, who seems to have the best price and selection of colors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little pricey Mouth guard does what it says, comfortable, easy to speak and breath...Comes with $15,000.00 insurance...Was at another store found mouth guards as much as 1/2 of the cost of this model and came with $25,000.00 insurance... Did research the 2 and found most were the exact same setup and material..If you find cheaper mouth guards make sure to compare apples to apples, not all of the cheaper ones were the same as their counter parts as well make sure the insurance coverage is the same if not more...
