Most Recommended Mouthguard For Braces

While this is the most recommended mouthguard, I would think there would be slightly more room between the two pieces of plastic. When folks have braces, their teeth are not going to be in a happy, straight line. My daughter (12) is adjusting to having to braces in the first place; and then wearing the mouth guard is even harder. I think it will just take some to get used to; and hopefully as she wears it and her teeth straighten out a bit, that it will feel more comfortable. To me, the space between the two pieces of plastic is barely enough room for a tooth, let alone a tooth with braces on top. And that is why I rated the mouth guard 4 starts out of 5.

Looks Nice But Doesn’t Fit

The top tray is too skinny to fit my 12 yr olds teeth and braces. He has a small mouth so I don’t know why these are that tight. He could hardly breathe with it in.

Not For Everyone

Recently bought this for my son since he will be playing football with braces this year. After a couple of times wearing it, his wires were coming loose and the guard managed to "pop" some of his band off. We had to have the bands replaced a couple of times as well. At this point, we are going to use the guard our Orthodontist has recommended.

Too Bulky!

I brought two Shock Doctors for my twin boys who play basketball and have braces. They refuse to wear them. One is a point guard, and he said he cannot call plays. Both said two bulky and uncomfortable to wear. There are not cheap, and turned out to be a waste of my money.

Great Mouthguard

We bought this 2+ years ago and it's still going strong. My son had full upper and lower braces and wrestling and football required a mouth guard but the one the orthodontist gave us was garbage. We went shopping and found this outstanding guard. After using it for a couple months we took it with us to the orthodontist and showed them how it fit and how it could be remoulded for a change of braces. Our orthodontist now recommends Shock Doctor mouthguards for ALL their patients.

Painful To Wear

My son said this hurt to wear so he had to wear it incorrectly with his teeth not down in it, which isn’t safe when playing football. I’ve tried to call the company and no one answers. I left a message but no one has called me back.
