These Are Far Too Big - Gave Me Blisters First Wear

I bought these for myself for Christmas but waited to wear them. Huge mistake. I'm a size 8 shoe so I bought the medium. They're so baggy and slide around inside my boots so I was only 1.5 miles into my hike today when I realized they'd rubbed away several layers of skin and I had to turn back. Very disappointed; I've loved my previous pairs of Smartwool socks so something is off about this style.
