This helmet performs as expected, and is overall a great option at this price point. I really like the ventilation design of the this helmet, and it has a great boa adjustment. My only complaint is the ear loop straps. The helmet is bad for people with a low crown height, because you cannot shorten the ear strap loops like every helmet made for the past 50 years. I hope smith returns to the very nice adjustable eat straps still on the network helmet. This change feels like a value loss on all the higher end helmets.

Saved My Life
Had a nasty crash at 36mph and the helmet crumbled and cracked taking a huge amount of force. Don’t remember much but the emergency room doc telling me if I had a worse helmet I probably wouldn’t be here. So I’m insanely thankful for all the safety features of this helmet. Plus it looks good!

Life Saving
Purchased this helmet a few months ago based on a recommendation. As it turns out, I purchased it about 3 weeks before I was hit by a car that was traveling 60mph while cycling. Throughout my 5 weeks in the hospital, the doctors said that the helmet saved my life. I owe my life to the quality of this helmet. I’ll be a Smith customer for life.

Fits really well to my Asian head contours. Padding is just right, provides the right comfort with minimal weight. Adjustment is top notch as it really fits to my head just snugly. Awesome built!

Great Helmet
The Ignite is a great helmet. The shape and fit of the helmet works well with my headshape. A key feature for me is the integration of the helmet with Smith's sunglasses. Being able to stow glasses away in the vents and having confidence that they then won't fall out is a huge win in my book. I went through many combinations and returns before finding the Smith combination of helmet and glasses. My hope is that all future designs for both helmet and glasses have this key integration in mind. I'm glad that I came up on the Smith brand.

This Helmet Saved My Life… Thank You Smith Sports Optics!
What can I say or how do I even begin… As I am writing this review to you Smith Sports Optics on this 3rd week from my accident I was struck from behind by a motorist traveling at 45+mph in the bike-lane that didn’t see me because he was negligently on his mobile phone… Currently I’m healing/recovering from my injuries of a acetabular fracture, fractured right clavicle & major muscle tears to my left tricep… Carbon Road Bike is completely totalled, Smith helmet is completely totalled but one thing, it saved my life! I’ve logged thousands of miles with this helmet prior to this incident and I have had no gripes or complaints but this day I felt it was worthy enough to leave a review and to anyone that reads this, please just wear a helmet…

Saved My Life
I am still in the hospital but I can’t stop thinking about where I would be and in what condition if I didn’t have my recently bought Smith Ignite on me during my crash. I was doing my regular TRI workout session early morning week day on the suburban roads with light traffic …ended up not hitting a van but going at 22mph down the hill but went head first and flipped instead after hitting the front break hard in the last chance attempt. Landed on asphalt with my head then shoulder then my back. I remember vividly the helmet’s contact with the surface. Didn’t loose my consciousness and was fully aware what a serious situation I just found myself in. The rescue was quick ended up in hospital SICU with fractures on my lower back spine, broken collar bone and ankle…NO HEAD OR NECK INJURY! While shopping for helmet SAFETY was my priority.. I picked the right one! Thank you Smith Optics.

Fantastic Helmet
This is an extremely comfortable and well made helmet. The Ignite design looks great and it is very practical - the vents help regulate heat and still allow for a very aero product. This is my go to helmet for both racing and training rides. 10/10 would recommend the Ignite helmet!
