Not For Snowy Weather

This is a beautiful, sleek setup. Helmet fit is great. And it's true, the visor affords better peripheral vision than traditional goggles. That said, two issues that could break the deal: when it's snowy, the snow/ice comes into the visor and crusts it over. It's truly unusable in inclement weather, which you have to expect on nearly any day on the slopes. Other issue, the ear padding is so thick it's very difficult to hear conversation. I wanted some coverage for foul weather so ended up ripping out the padding while keeping the basic padding cover.

Great Winter Bicycle Helmet!!

Winter inevitably comes. Along with it is the need to continue riding the bike. The classic summer bike helmet just doesn't work in the wintertime as it's just too full of holes for ventilation. Enter the Smith Survey Snow helmet. It has enough ventilation to keep the visor from fogging, but not enough to make your head cold. It has better protection than ANY bike helmet. It keeps your ears warm without blocking exterior sounds. The flip up visor allows you to lift it up when needed even if you wear glasses like I do. The bright white color provides good riding visibility. In short, it's the best winter bike helmet I have found so far. Thanks, SMITH

Holes Let Snow In

I loved this helmet the first two days we were skiing, then it started to snow. The vents in the top of the helmet allow snow in, a lot of snow. I had about an inch of snow in my goggles and could not ski. I ended up putting bandaids over the top of the holes, but that didn’t allow any venting. Very poor design. I wanted to love this helmet. If your using it for sunny no snow days, it’s great, but I’m not going to travel with two helmets z

Avoid If Skiing When It Snows

I purchased this helmet in December of 2023 thinking the integrated googles would work well. The first time on the hill while it was snowing, snow entered in from the sides and completely filled up the inside of the goggle. This helmet with integrated google works great on blue bird days but when it's snowing out it's worthless.

Not A Good Fit

Returned because of fit. Since goggles can’t be adjusted, it didn’t work for me.

I Wear Glasses!

I wear glasses! I bought this hoping I wouldn’t get fogged up anymore. Yes, I no longer have fogged glasses. Yes, it fits small. I wear medium and bought a large. Yes, try it on and make sure it fits your face and glasses. Yes, the product is comfortable Yes, I ski in Tahoe, during some bad storms this year it worked well. Yes, smith has a great warranty and support. No, Yes, some snow might get in between you helmet and forehead. Wear a thin head covering. Yes, it doesn’t seal perfectly around your face like goggles. Yes, replacement visors are a thing if you can find them. Yes, smith seems to struggle with supply chain for replacement lenses.

Great System, Get The Photochromatic Lens.

Love the photochromatic lens. Super light helmet barely feels it is on. I added the Aleck nunchucks and it sounds great. A couple of improvements points. (a better protection for the lens when stowed away, maybe a whole helmet rigid case or a rigid cover for the lens. Also, the earmuffs out pressure on the ears when using with the audio system.

Lens Fogs Up Easily And

Lens fogs up easily and is hard to wipe. I LOVE the flip down design!

Smith Helmet

The goggles don’t click easily down and hold in position. I do like the transition or graduated lenses

Happy I Took A Chance.

Pretty close to perfect. Clear vision. Good range of view. Seems like a quality product. Figuring out different ways to adjust helmet so goggles tighten to face.

I Didn’t Buy That Helmet

I didn’t buy that helmet Wrong one, need a review on the correct one?

My Head Is Comfy!

Super comfy, warm, great vents, and enough space to either wear a thin hat/buff underneath with lots of adjustment.

Convenient But Not Durable

I bought my SMITH Survey helmet in Val Thorens in France on my second last day of snowboarding. Used it once on the last day and really enjoyed the convenience of easy pulling up and down the visor vs my previous set with separate googles. But when I got home, I found that the component part connecting the visor to the helmet is broken. I am so surprised that it can be broken so easily. I live in Hong Kong and there is no authorised dealer in Hong Kong. And my next snowboarding trip is in 2 weeks time in Japan. I hope I can find a replacement part before my next trip. Can anyone give me any advice?

Cradle Is Made Of Brittle Plastic, And Inserts Are Cheap!!

I am a seasoned skier, and have had many different helmets. So, this isn't my first rodeo. I removed the cradle to take the ear pads off, and not only did one of the plastic arms snap (attempted fix with duct tape, gorilla glue and a heat shrink sleave...see if/how it holds), but the plastic receiving piece where the back of the cradle "snaps" in completely tore out. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the helmet functions well when whole.

Loved The Look But Not The Performance

I loved the way the helmet looked. But when skiing on a colder day, the goggles would always steam up, there was no seal around the eyes of course, so my face would also get a lot colder than with a regular helmet and goggles set up. I will be switching back for the next ski trip.
