Good Balanced Knife But Not Really A Machete

The knife is great, but calling it. A machete is a little aggressive. The size limits its usefulness. I bought it because I just needed something to chop down some large grasses in my yard and the 18 inch option was sold out. This worked with a bit of effort and it’s a very good sturdy knife but I would probably reclassify this as a knife, not a machete.

It Checks A Box

You never know what you need until you need it. I believe i checked that box for my boy and I. I got us each one. He's a young motivated camper and I'm an ol Recon Marine. So why not... man!! So far so good.

Great Versatile Machete!

Fantastic wicked and versatile blade. The blade is very solid and strong and the handle is soft and comfortable.

Just what I needed. Clearing a trail or cleaning brush around my blind this thing has busted through everything that's been in front of me.

Great Knife

Great knife. Even better than I expected. I would highly recommend this knife for a camping or hunting tool.

The Blade Broke Through Wood.

He was cutting wood and the blade broke a piece in the sharpening part.

Rolled Edge On First Use

I baught this for camping and used it the same day I got it to chop a thin green tree branch and it developed a massive roll. Terrible steel or hardening process. Would not recommend sog to anyone after this

Very Weak Tip

Before purchasing I had no illusions this was going to be a heavy use knife, but still it looked cool and I figured it would be sufficient for some light chopping, maybe batoning or other light camp tasks. I don't know if the knife I bought has a manufacturing flaw or if they are all like this, but the tip of the blade (last half inch) is paper thin. I can move it easily with my thumb. The cheapest kitchen knife I've ever seen has a stronger tip. Any positives I could mention about this knife are useless considering the weakness of the blade. Very, very cheaply made. I wasted $45. There are way better knives for the money. This one is junk.

Looks Like A Badass Knife.

Great knife if your cutting marshmallows or hot butter. Don’t recommend using it to cut green tree limbs because the blade will bend or break.

Sturdy

i have had my jungle primitive about 4 to 5 years now and have used this knife very heavily. i have batoned through wood, chopped trees, thrown it and just generally abused this knife and it has stood up to the abuse. really the only annoying thing is the saw-back, its thicker towards the bottom of the teeth so when sawing it only saws about a quarter inch before it bottoms out. the handle has held up extremely well with only minor scuffing on the finger guard. the sheath has had its fair share of abuse as well, i had a raccoon drag my sheath of one night and chew on it. woke up and found it laying about 20 yards from my lean to, with only the top corner of the belt loop missing. overall this is my go to knife when i go camping. i would and do recommend this knife to everyone. this was my first sog knife, but now i only buy sog knives.

This Knife Is The Definition Of A Badass Knife

I just purchased this knife and I am having trouble putting it down or letting it out of my sight.....I love this blade!! And after a little research I found that in my state, TN, it's actually legal to carry this blade. AWESOME

Survive!

Well thought out survival design. I typically don't care for serrations; but on this particular knife they only use up a very small portion of a very large cutting surface. There's still ample regular edge for fine cutting, and the small serrated section for tough, problematic materials; so that was well designed. And of course there's also the sawback feature along the spine, and the hammer pommel. A finger guard was a necessity, and the abbreviated hook at the pommel end helps generate torque when chopping while helping prevent the knife from flying out of the hand while doing so. Very versatile knife; if you found yourself out in the sticks for any considerable length of time, you could still accomplish a great deal with this tool at your disposal.

Go To Tool

Almost as important as my gun when I go hunting is this knife. I use it to build duck blinds concealment and deer stands it is the one knife that I always take to the field is like my right hand
