Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some answers for this great knife Actually, as far as the safety is concerned, it can be clicked off with a fingernail with a little practice as part of the opening procedure. The clip serves as a guide to find finger position and the midldle finger just follows the groove to open the blade almost as quick as opening the blade with safety already off. Closing the blade is also a one-handed operation with a little practice, either rt or lft-handed. SOG never tells you how to switch the clip to the other side, just says it's "easy". But it only ivolves usind an allen wrench on one screw to switch it over for lefties.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Knife for the money I did a lot of research on many types of pocket knifes and many types of steels used in a blade. This one uses Japanese made AUS 8 steel, which is mid grade but very sharp and tough. Handle feels good and is surprisently light for it's tough exterior look. Handle also includes seat belt cutter which makes this knife popular with law enforsment. However, this feature can be used to cut wires and other thin items. Assisted opening system is smooth and simple, I like that there are two locking mechanisms, it feels safer in you pocket, but you can keep the second one unlocked when using the knife often. Can not find a better knife for this price, and Dick's sells it for lowest price...I've looked around. Good Luck

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection SOG Has nailed it with this one. The quality is impeccable and the fit and finish reflect that. It is well balanced and lightning fast to open. The G10 grip is well thought out and the machined SOG logo in the clip is a subtle way to show it off. This is my new favorite daily carrier thanks to the blade opening safety for pocket carrying. I use a Maxpedition sheath most days and this knife replaces my Ferox.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great knife! But not the best I purchased this for a friend as a gift. The open-assist is a little heavy. The locks work great. The handle/housing is really big compared to the blade. The design is cool but nothing that will change the operation of the knife. The blade has been great so far but it isn't as thick or heavy as I'd like. I carry a CRKT M14-SF, this SOG is like it's little brother. Good purchase as a gift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic knife I love this knife I carry it with me everywhere I go it has a very sharp blade right out of the box and it keeps it's edge I have yet to sharpen it. I love it's ability to cut paracord and fishing line without having to open the blade and has a great grip and won't slip out of your hand when using it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NOT BAD. I purchased one of these Tridents a little over a year ago now. And I really can't say I've had any issues what's so ever with this knife. At first looking at the price I was hesitant, with not knowing SOG's products. Now that I've spent numerous hours using it. I can truly say I would purchase this knife again. I'm a fan of the Tanto style blade, the handle of the knife also isn't the best most comfortable handle ive ever felt. However it surely isn't uncomfortable. I don't use it and say wow this thing is uncomfortable. It hurts my hand or its slippery nothing. As an EDC ( every day carry ) it's a pretty sweet package. I highly recommend this knife to someone who is either just learning the arts of knifes, weather it be for self defense, a tool or for crafts. The edge holds up moderately well. Long as your not ignorant and throw the knife into concrete floors and travel n such you'll have no issues keeping this knife in good working condition. Also with using this knife as an EDC. I spend a lot of time hiking as well as fresh water fishing. And I mean a LOT of time. 8/9 hour fishing days out on the water or shore. I swim with the knife ect. Not a dot of rust. Again all within proper care of the knife. As I reiterate a bit back to the price. For my personal experience this is on the cheaper side of good folding knives and is a great option for someone who isn't looking to spend 100+$ for a knife with more sinsative materials to look after. Again for the price I can toss this knife around and not worry about it being damaged one due to its actual tough design and price. The only two things that i can say that are on the more or less negative side is the slot for cutting paracord or seatbelts ect, doesnt really work. Much easier to open the knife and cut what ever needs to be cut. 2ND would be the safety lock. I keep it unlocked for personal reasond and from time to time ill grab the knife from my pocket, go to deploy the blade and its locked, somehow it has locked whilst in my pocket. Now with that being said. In no way is that truelt a bad thing. Safety is important and its truely not a hassle to unlock the knife, but with that being the case id imagine it would be the same. The other way around. Locked to unlocked. Now in my experience with the knife it isnt going to deploy in your pocked accidentially. thats all I can say negativelt towards the knife. Anyhow! I hope after this 3 page essay. (haha) I've helped you in your search for your first or 50th knife and you come to enjoy this product such as I have.
