We bought this for our 8-year-old (28 inch), and I can confidently say the bat is hot — for the right type of hitter. My son was already a strong hitter and had recently been using a DeMarini Goods, which is very end-loaded. While he was hitting solid, heavy grounders with it, he kept reaching for his friends' bats, which were more balanced. We also have an older son who prefers balanced bats, and I started to realize the younger one might be leaning the same way. Given that he’s not always the most careful with his gear, the fact that this is a one-piece metal bat gave me peace of mind. I’d heard and seen good things about Soldier through travel ball, so I figured it was worth trying — and I’m glad we did. I will note that the paint on this thing isn't very durable, so be prepared for it to scratch off quickly; however, that does not affect the bat's performance. This bat added an average of 15 feet to his hits. I’d recommend it to any player with solid mechanics who’s ready to unlock a bit more power.
