[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the 2nd hoop I have bought. My 1st hoop I bought over 10 years ago. I would have given a rating of 5 stars, but for the same issue I have now. Your wheel axel and wheel caps are of the same quality of over 10 years ago, and are absolutely terrible!!! If you move the basket hoop and have to move the wheel base left or right, the wheel pushes against the wheel cap, forcing the wheel cap and the wheel to come off the axel!!!! Come on now!!! A simple bolt, 2 washers and a nut, would fix this issue immediately!!! Where is the quality assurance on this product over the last 10 years?

Let me start by saying I had a handyman come help me out because it’s legit a 2 person job, maybe at times 3 people. It took us about 5 hours to assemble it. That included a lot of time spent adding sand. Regarding the sand, it is near impossible to get 700 lbs of sand in there. I’d love to know who has and how. Once we reached a bit over 450 it became very difficult since they only give one opening per base container to fill. Probably good for water to have one hole, but bad for sand. Additionally, the front wheels that you use to move the hoop around on your driveway was very poorly constructed. The caps are not an adequate way to hold the wheels on the axle and we had one fall off twice. We ended up drilling holes through the axle to attach a permanent solution. At this price point, the front axle and wheels should be assembled at the factory or provided with better parts so it does not fall off.

I'm seeing several bad reviews on this product, which I find surprising because I've own mine for 2 years, through some nasty Midwest weather, and it's been amazing! This hoop system is TOUGH, high quality, and although it's expensive, it's worth every penny if your son/daughter is a highly competitive player who will use it regularly. I highly recommend it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Awesome hoop! Kids have been outside almost everyday. I watched a couple YouTube videos prior to installing it which definitely helped. I would like to see Spalding do a step by step video

Awesome hoop. Challenge to build. Mating the 2 poles is a pain but we got it done. Took us 100 slams. It was worth the effort. My boys love the hoop.
The labeling of the screws and the manual completely don’t match. Definitely need at least two people to put this thing together, once it’s up the product is good quality. But do better with the assembly instruction, I have read the same one star reviews dated back to 2022 and the same issues still persist.

At first glance it looks like a nice hoop that’s moveable. Be ready for it to fall over though as the base is trash. The fill hole for the base is insanely small making it difficult to put sand in. I gave up with the sand after awhile and filled it the rest of the way with water. This would work fine if the base didn’t leak after a few months leaving next to no weight in the base. One day you have a nice sturdy hoop and then one windy day you’ll have a toppled hoop with a shattered glass backboard and dented truck. Bottom line, stay away from this overpriced junk it’s not worth even half the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shipping was efficient. Instructions were fairly good, but I watched a few videos prior to construction. I was able to put this together by myself with the exception of putting the backboard on. You will probably need two people for that process.

I Bought this hoop for my son's 6th grade graduation present. He loves playing basketball and is pretty good so I thought this would be a good idea. But anyway, I had to pick the two base poles up and smash them together for almost 30 minutes!!! I am glad that I kept up my fitness training. Then I had to attach the poles to the base, relatively easy but the tools that I need are scarce. I mean, you need a HUGE wrench extender and it just is not that popular. Because we needed to go to the store to get the tools, we figured we could also get the sand too. But the instructions don't tell you how much sand you need! Like, what?!!! But we decided to go with around 480 lbs. Then we put the rest together. Once the hoop was together, best thing ever! I love and my kid was so happy to have a really good hoop to play on and practice for the school team. In conclusion, installation is terrible but the after product is great. Also, how much sand?????????

Overall, so far this is very solid. Movement from the basketball is not even noticeable. but I want to share some notes from my experiences assembling. 1. When assembling the 2 pole pieces. If your struggling to get the pieces together, drop it from higher up. I am talking 3-4 feet at least. I ended up using a small 3 step ladder and after you get it the poles started, lifting the whole assembly and rest it on the top of the 3 step ladder, then lifting and dropping from there. You can hear it when it makes proper contact, and don't use a soft wood to land on or the pole edges will dig into the wood and dent in the top of the pole. I ended up screwing together a bunch of 2x4 pieces with the 4" side standing up. 2. Being in the Midwest, I ended up using sand. The risk of a crack and leak and it falling and breaking or hitting a car is not worth the extra effort of using the sand. If you buy standard play sand, it will very likely be damp inside the bag and does not flow through a funnel. Even if you dry it, it may not flow well. When filling the base while the hoop is laying on its side, I found it easy to just use a piece of cardboard as like a conveyor belt and I pushed the sand into the hole with my hand. This was much faster with my daughter scooping sand on the cardboard and me pushing it in, wear some small gloves. Once the hoop is stood up, filling is more tedious, I used a milk jug cut in half and the top cut off, shaking it and the sand went in, still need to push the sand out of the way using a paint stick or 1x1. On the Grey top base piece, I did cut a flap on top the width of my scooper, and found that easier to scoop sand in and then push it with a small 1x1 board to fill in the areas, then seal the flap with some waterproof gorilla tape after. 3. It does not turn well, so you do need quite a bit of space to maneuver it. This is obvious but its heavy, and tall, and wont fit in a regular garage while standing up. You would need to drain the base and tilt. While tilted low enough to get in and out of the garage, it is not resting on the wheels so it has to be dragged.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a solid and well built portable goal. Minimal shake and solid bounce off of rim and backboard. I was concerned with the many complaints on assembling the main pole sections so I put a bit of lithium spray on grease on the two sections and pounded it together in about five or six drops. My biggest issue was getting the ball deflector on - some longer bolts would have helped. Otherwise directions are clear and concise so no real issues assembling. Enjoying the BEAST!!

I bought three of these in 2011. Two for indoor use at my children's school and one for my cul-de-sac. Yes assembly takes 4 to 5 hours as the instructions aren't completely clear, but it is fairly easy and all the parts fit together well. I originally filled it with water but it was hit by a couple of careless drivers and I had to fill it with sand as the water leaked out. The goal served us well for 13 years in the Arizona heat until my sons friend decided to do a burn out in the cul-de-sac and whipped the rear of his car into the goal bending the frame. I bought a new one and assembled it yesterday and I'll light this one and put reflectors on it. I believe it will easily last 20+ years. Well made, sturdy, and has a professional feel to it even as a portable unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The BEAST is as Advertised! Sturdy and easier to manager than I originally thought.
