Poles Keep Coming Apart
This is the second time in two years that the poles have come apart causing the backboard to fall to the ground. Luckily no one was under it either time. I'm considering having them welded together to prevent a third fail. Disappointed.

Where's The Ball?
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was supposed to come with a basketball, we submitted a support ticket and have heard nothing. This is for a youth group and we are a non-profit organization.

Hole In The Base
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shipped with big hole in the base, no water would be held. Replacement came but wrong base. Sat on hold for an hour yesterday with no call back when requested.

My Son Loves His Basketball
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son loves his basketball hoop. Very strong and made very well. We live in a windy area and it holds very well. It awesome that you can add water and sand at the same time for stability. Easy to move as well. Overall a great portable hoop. The instructions for building could be a bit more clear and label better. That would be my only complain. But totally worth it at the end.

Unstable And Expensive Parts
We have barely been able to use our hoop since it arrived. The screws did not fit to secure the rim and the rim shield. The directions are really bad and there is at least one mistake in the manual. We are currently fighting with support to send us a new rim so we can use our hoop. Even though the hoop is a little bigger there is no way that it will hold up in a wind. So plan on your expensive spalding hoop to be broken if you live in an area with wind.

Best Portable Hoop
We were looking for a solid portable hoop for our driveway and this is it. The glass backboard provides gym hoop ball response. The entire system is very sturdy. The assembly instructions had a few head scratching sections that could use better detail, but overall we were able to figure it out. It doesn’t hold as many bags of sand as it calls for either. Overall this ihoop is rugged and high quality. My kids say it’s like playing indoors.

Good Hoop But Assembly Is Terrible
Good looking hoop and seems relatively well built. As others have noted, the assembly process is a pain, principally because the illustrations are confusing and poorly detailed and the hardware is not organized appropriately. Mind you, this is coming from someone who likes to assemble things and is pretty handy in general.

Great Hoop, Solid Design, So Heavy.
I want to state first off we love this hoop and the kids have been enjoying the heck out of it. The build was not easy, and took me around 3 hours and you definitely need 2 people for parts of it (i would suggest 2 strong people). The hoop is really heavy even without the sand/water in it, so make sure you are careful when bringing it up and down. Now that it's up and in place, love it. Great hoop.

Good For The Money
This is a nice looking portable hoop with a sturdy build. The acrylic backboard has decent response. Although, it's not as nice as glass but definitely better than the polycarbonate material. Overall, I can't complain for the price I paid. I'm happy with this purchase except for the times when I imagine what "The Beast" would've been like instead.

Quality Control Needs To Be Addressed
Unit was coming along nicely. I was able to complete most of the assembly but hit a snag when the TBolt was too short or the hoop spring too long...there was no way to attach the hoop to the backboard without ordering a longer Tbolt

Solid And Sharp Hoop!
I read and researched these hoops for sometime before buying this one. This goal is sturdy! Looks sharp! I read reviews on assembly tips and watched videos online as well, so the assembly wasn't too too bad. (There are just a few steps that were a bit of a challenge.) The goal is one of the best portable goals I have ever seen or shot on. This was a great purchase.

The Upgrade My Court Needed!
After years of wearing down my old hoop, I finally made the decision to make the change. The Ultimate Hybrid is the closest thing to a nice park hoop or indoor hoop I have ever had, especially since I went with the glass backboard model. The base is very sturdy with the rope and water+sand. My suggestions for buyers: take your time on the directions. Read them and visualize them multiple times before doing each step/moving to the next one. This sounds obvious, but you’ll thank me later. You will need someone else to help on a few steps, but one person can handle the majority of the assembly. My suggestions for Spalding: possibly number every piece with a sticker so the assembler doesn’t need to constantly flip back and forth between the identifier page and their current step. Have holes drilled into glass backboards before someone purchases this hoop. Clarify how many bags of sand to put into the base (the box I got said five, but the website says four)(four was the most that I could fit in mine.) Overall, I am very happy with this hoop so far!
