Great Rod

I got this rod a couple weeks ago as an upgrade for my MH. I have been very happy with it. Sensitivity is great feels like decent backbone.

Great Action And Sensitivity, But Not Very Strong….

On second Rod as the tip just snapped a 2lb Bass. It was only two weeks old. So far only caught two small Bass (<2lb) no issues. Return/Exchange was easy. The tips are very sensitive so be careful setting your hook. And pulling the fish in, net is highly recommended for those above 2lb fish.

Quality Made

Bought the extra fast action and is very stiff, handle is long and has a nice feel to it

Great Rod

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 4 of these rods in different actions. You can’t beat the action and liteness of the rod for the cost.

Beware - Not Good

I have 2 St Croix Bass X rods (1 spinning, 1 casting), so my experience isn't isolated, this is a known issue across the BassX line with lack of quality and poor builds. Blanks - Tips are lacking strength and durability. Both tips have broken 1-3 inches down due to no fault or atypical misuse of my own. I treat them like every other rod I own, across various price points and these are the only one's that have ever broken within 1 year due to normal wear and tear. Very fragile. Guides - surprisingly for this price they are cheap and wore quickly... for this price point vs competitor brands, and given the St Croix name I'd expect more Handle / Reel Seat - Reel seat came apart soon after purchase, had to glue it back myself ALSO - their customer support and warranty is a joke. I filed a warrantly claim weeks ago and still nothing from them. And even if you do want to get a new rod, they charge you $60, which is not a great deal for replacing a piece of junk that should be replaced for free (maybe shipping, I would be okay with that). I would strongly recommend to save your money and do not buy any of the Bass X line of St Croix rods.

Broke

Had this for about a year and the reel tightener thing broke

I bought this for my son's 17th birthday. He was thrilled and said it was the most amazing thing he's ever owned!!!

Excellent Bass Rod

I bought this rod because I love St Croix products. This rod is no different. It is light and extremely sensitive and it, in my opinion, compares to rods 2x its price!

Great Entry Rod.

Great entry rod!! New model no longer has any problems with the reel seat- although st croix customer service has been great with free replacements! Great rod. Super sensitive.
