Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great for me. I was in a bind, was picking up a kayak that day, and could not find anything to put on top of my car to transport this 13 foot kayak, I was getting. After stopping at 3 other places that sold kayaks, and no one had anything...I went to Dick's. I love how simple it can go on my 17 year old car, with a naked roof. I have used it about 6 times in the first couple of weeks and it is Great. Holds my kayak in place, even when I am doing 70 mph, down the interstate. It stays tight and holds it in place. I do plan on getting cross members for my car, but this works great and I am not under any pressure to get the cross members roof rack system. This does the job.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Easy to use once you figure out how to thread the straps into the locking clamp. The only complaints I have about this particular model are as follows: 1 - the hooks at the ends of the straps for the stem and stern of the kayak are too small to fit nicely into any anchoring hole or even the tire-well of my car (I will have to make my own larger hooks). 2 - the straps, out of the box, were already starting to fray and were worse after the first use (I'll have to burn off the long strings).Positives - you can't get any cheaper and still have safe functionality!!! Just be careful that you don't tighten the straps so much that you bend your kayak.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed and annoyed Bought this to transport my Future Beach 10' 4" kayak. The drive from my place to the launch pad is maybe 15 minutes, however any time I reach 20 MPH on the streets the noise that the straps make is horrible!I'm driving an SUV that has a rack, I'm using the straps to simply secure the kayak to the car. Who knows if it's the material the straps are made of? They're secured tight, the kayak isn't moving at all, however the noise/buzz the straps make are loud! You get two stars for securing the kayak, but nothing more because the quality is just so poor. Would never use this kit for anything longer than a 30 minute drive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, but not perfect Bought this because Roof Racks for Naked Roofs are expensive as Heck!, so the only issue I had with this is that the foam blocks, when strapped down, dent my roof, all the weight from the kayak and stress from the straps are all focused on 2 foam blocks. How I fixed this issue was I cut the 2 foam blocks in half and inserted 2 thin metal rods, this set up now distributes the load weight onto 4 foam blocks instead of 2. My roof no longer dents when I strap it down and it works just great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, works great. We bought this to transport our kayak on a 300-mile trip... This worked perfectly we only used one extra strap to secure through the second door. it did not leave scratches it did not move around at all. if you properly secure a kayak on the roof of your vehicle this item works like a champ. We loaded it on the top of a Toyota Tacoma extended cab. Would definitely recommend this product as a cheap way of transporting kayaks and canoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't beat the price I bought this to use for my 2009 Toyota Corolla. Works great everytime. I can strap my kayak on BY MYSELF in under 7 minutes. Would not recommensld going on the highway with it but for the price you can't beat it...LOVE it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Kayak rack ever ! I have a new modern aerodynamic type car with no rails or rain gutters. Mazda 6. So I was quite worried about what to do. I bought a much more expensive rack but returned it because it was too complicated. This cheap rack is all I need. The roof straps tighten down super tight and hold steady. I don't even use the front and rear straps. The middle roof straps work great buy themselves. I drove a kayak across florida for 200 miles. no worries at 70 mph. Just make sure you twist the straps a lot so they don't whistle. After you use it a few times you will figure out where to put the foam pieces and straps so they won't get in the sun visors way. If you put it towards the middle of the roof, the roof may push in a little so I put mine near the front and rear windshields. I Love this rack and it only takes about 5 minutes to load and go.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from These straps sound like a small jet engine The foam pads were nice to separate my kayak from sitting on the top of my jeep, but the straps were not easy to use, didn't get very tight and were extremely loud once I started driving. After I was all strapped up I left my driveway and almost immediately the straps were vibrating and me and my 3 year old were holding our ears because it sounds like we were sitting near the engine of a small airplane about to take off. So I decided to go to another sporting goods store to find a better way to strap down and found some nylon rope straps that did the trick more efficiently and much quieter.
