New for 2025, an even lower CG in the long irons enhances launch and playability, while a higher CG is designed to improve spin rates and control in the scoring clubs. Buyer Beware: 80% Of My Custom Taylormade P790 Irons Arrived Damaged
I recently ordered a brand-new custom set of TaylorMade P790 irons through Dick's Sporting Goods and was shocked to discover that the majority of the clubs arrived with visible damage to the clubheads right out of the box. I have photos and videos documenting the condition of the clubs as they were unwrapped. The damage was underneath the factory plastic wrapping, making it clear that these clubs left the factory in this condition. These clubs have never hit a golf ball. Out of the set I received, the 6-iron, 7-iron, 8-iron, 9-iron, and pitching wedge all arrived with visible defects including scuffs, dents, pockmarks, and other imperfections on the clubheads. The 6-iron was the worst of the group and contained damage significant enough to immediately warrant a warranty claim before ever being swung. TaylorMade's warranty department have already acknowledged the damage on the 6-iron and approved a replacement under warranty. However, I am still working through the warranty process for the remaining damaged clubs. The process has already taken 5+ business days and remains unresolved. What is most frustrating is that these are custom-ordered clubs. When you spend this kind of money on a premium custom-built set from a company with TaylorMade's reputation, you expect the clubs to arrive in pristine condition. Instead, I received a set where approximately 70% of the clubs showed some form of damage straight from the factory. Dick's has been unable to offer a direct resolution because custom orders must be handled through TaylorMade's warranty process. As a result, I am left spending my time documenting defects, submitting claims, and waiting for replacements on clubs that should have never shipped in this condition in the first place. The bigger concern here is quality control. If TaylorMade has already acknowledged that the 6 iron qualifies for warranty replacement due to manufacturing or pre-shipment damage, how did they make it through inspection and get shipped to a customer at all? At this point, my confidence in the quality control process is extremely low. When the majority of a brand-new custom set arrives damaged, it raises serious questions about how thoroughly these clubs are being inspected before leaving the factory. I will update this review if TaylorMade ultimately makes things right, but based on my experience so far, I would NOT order a custom set from Taylormade. I've been a Taylormade golfer my whole golf career and I am hoping they make this right. Otherwise I'll be looking to return the entire set under defect and move on to another brand.

Great Looking Club At Address. Can’t Wait To Get Them Out On The Course And Show Them Off To My Playing Partners.
My club fitter, Bill Moisan at the Salem NH store, took the time to try a number of different brands and shafts to finally come up with the club best suited for my swing. I never considered trying the Taylormade P790’s but I’m glad that Bill did.

Look Amazing
I recently picked up a set of TaylorMade P790 irons and have been really impressed so far. As a newer golfer, they look great behind the ball but still feel pretty forgiving when I don’t hit it perfectly. When you catch one clean it feels amazing and the ball just jumps off the face. They’ve definitely given me a little more confidence hitting into greens.

2025 Taylormade P790
These are hands down the best irons I've ever bought! This is my third set, and I am still fairly new to golf. After hitting them at the range a few times I started to get the feel for them (mind you my last set of clubs was the callaway X os iron set) so crazy difference when I switched to these. I gained yardage, and feel more confident to hit the ball. Absolutely love these!
