Not As Warm As Expected But Doubles As A Charger And Light.

I bought this for my son in advance of a cold weather outdoor game (~35 degrees). I had him put it in his gear bag on sidelines and stuffed inside a basic cotton winter hat in the bag. By keeping it inside a hat which was inside a gear bag, the warmer was able to retain as much heat as possible. At half-time or while subbed out he was put his hands inside the hat to get some of the accumulated warmth. Our plan was to mimic how hand warmer packets inside ski gloves are able to give off maximum heat. Without going through the procedure above, the hand warmer will barely provide any heat. Exposure to cold air and wind will sap away heat almost as quickly as it generates.

Not As Hot As Advertised

Although there was a warming felt from the unit, it was not as hot as advertised. I also bought a Nike Handwarmer Sleeve and was heating my hands more with the Sleeve than with the Thaw Unit.
