I've just purchased this North Face Base Camp Duffel (Medium) for short trips and weekend travel, and so far it has been awesome. The material feels really tough and durable, the inside has a durable water repellant layer and holds up well even when it gets tossed around in cars or airports. I like the backpack straps too. They make it much easier to sling over my shoulder and carry when the bag is full. Plenty of space for clothes and other gear, and the wide opening makes packing simple. Definitely a solid bag that I expect to use for years. Will see how it holds up over the long term, but this bag is replacing one I bought 25+ years ago which has worked really well over this full period.

It has some new features compared to my previous bag--like the compartment on the end that is ideal for shoes or keeping damp clothes separated. Fits all my stuff! Pretty water proof. I use it as a chair sometimes when traveling and love the backpack straps. If you have see someone traveling, they usually have the medium. That's the best size for carryons, but this is good for long trips and you can squish it down/tighten the straps and it fits as a carryon too.

I Would Definitely Buy Another Base Camp Duffel

I have several base camp duffels and they have been indestructible. Zippers are stout and straps on the big bags are easy to use and come off for air travel. Travelled around the world and they have survived every airport and bus luggage handler. They don't claim to be water proof but it takes a lot for water to enter the bag.

I love this bag! I bought it for a 3 weeks of backpacking, the size was considered a carry-on during my flights. My only complaint would be that I would like a separate compartment for the shoes (but it only comes with the Medium sizes and up). Since then, it's became a favorite to pack for a weekend trip. It's sturdy, easy to wipe clean and it has a large opening. Couldn't recommend enough!

You Can'r Go Wrong With The Base Camp Duffel.

I bought this for my nephew for xmas. He had used my original extra large Base Camp Duffel from the late 1990's to backpack through Europe and loved the bag. I personally own the small, medium,large and extra large duffels and use them all the time. Highly recommend any of them. Backpack straps are key!
