Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let it pour. This is a great jacket. I got to test it out last night after getting surprised by a cell of heavy rain while walking the dog. I was impressed at the water repelling capabilities. The jacket never felt wet, the water runs off. It is very light weight, and fits great. I am 6'2" 190lbs, and the Large fits perfectly. I was actually wearing this jacket over a hoodie and it still fit great. Don't expect this jacket to keep you warm in temps below 50, but it does do a great job stopping wind and rain. Build quality feels excellent. Can't beat North Face Customer Service that's comes with the jacket for life!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This jacket is amazing! This jacket is lighter than I would have guessed, but it still feels warm. I'm very glad I made this purchase. My brother saw this jacket and liked it so much he went and ordered one for himself. The ONLY reason I did not give this 5 stars is because the sizing is off. For the last 10 years I have always worn a medium in shirts and jackets. So that is exactly what I ordered. The jacket was far too big on me and I had to make a trip to a north face retail store to exchange it for a smaller size. The same was true for my brother, he has always worn larges yet the medium I had purchased fit him perfectly. Bottom line, get the jacket in your size and you will not be disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof at all This jacket is a huge disappointment. I bought in Canada and tried it two times in light rain conditions - not very good results but OK overall. This summer, when I got to the Tibet and the rest of China, I got soaked constantly. I am not exaggerating - I mean, really soaked! Not waterproof, 100% unbreathable even you keep the side zippers completely open. There is definitely something wrong! My pants and my boots (from competitors brands) do not leek a single drop even in torrential rain conditions. I filed a customer return and I am currently waiting for credit or refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from FELL APART LESS THAN A MONTH Had this jacket for less than a month. Noticed the seams holding draw strings around the waist and hood began to open a few days later both seams completely came apart. Went to the store to exchange the jacket but was told I had to mail it away to the warranty department for repair or replacement. Pretty disappointed in NorthFace for this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not breathable in the slightest I've used many waterproof jackets for active wea like mountain biking and hiking so I know how a good breathable jacket should perform. This jacket is no more breathable than a plastic bag... literally! Even after some time in the play park with my daughter on a cold day the jacket was wet on the inside and felt uncomfortable, even with the pit vents open. V disappointed. Good looking jacket for around the shops in the rain but an expensive option if that's all you can do with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as Advertised, even Gortex. It was not as advertised. Leaked at the seams the first time out in the heavy rain in Seattle. Trip to Europe leaked more. Lucky wore inside down jacket that kept me dry but got the down wet. Short and stylish, but tight fitting for someone HWP. Returned for refund given leaking even as a Gortex jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great hiking jacket I hiked some of the Appalachian Trail with this jacket a few weeks ago. By the time we made it to Abrahm's Falls in GSMNP, it was torrential downpour. It held up great, but since it was so humid, I was a bit wet before I put it on. Keep your phone in the designated chest pocket during downpour, and it will keep your device dry. The side pockets actually collected water during the downpour, but who knows, I probably opened them to grab something. It's sort of annoying to have the cinch cords tie off in the pockets. I don't know if there's a design reason for that. I might try the Summit L5 Storm to see if it handles the rain better, but I'm going to give this one another shot because it is super comfortable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful construction, falling apart after only a half season I loved this jacket until it started falling apart. The seams around the neck are coming unglued. This jacket was way too expensive to be falling apart after only a half season. I want to send it in to get fixed But the 6 week turnaround is way too long for the PNW rainy season.
