Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price I believe I bought these when they were on sale a couple years ago for around $80. That being said, I'd gladly pay the full price of $110 for a replacement pair... if they ever fall apart. I've owned these for over 2 years with no issues. I've used them for hiking (50+ total hiking miles), snow , shooting range, camping, yard work and rain. They have also been some great every day shoes that I tend to wear in the fall/ winter around home, and occasionally at work on none-formal days. They are very sturdy and the water proofing has held up very well. These boots keep a lot of heat in, I will say that they don't breath as well as I'd hoped. I have a feeling the waterproofing is to blame for that, so maybe wear some thinner socks on warm days. Wool socks seem to help keep the moister off your feet on longer hikes and winter romps. Tread has warn (if at all) well. You can barely tell I've had them for 2 years because the tread has stayed pretty intact. The tread is great for hiking and slippery conditions. The comfort is above and beyond expectations. I would wear them all day every day if I could get away with it at work.Other Thoughts: I've not put on many hiking miles nor have I used them for hardcore backpacking trips, so my review may be more biased towards medium duty use and not so much heavy duty.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from North Face Uncharacteristic Fail As an avid outdoors person, I think The North Face is a trusted brand in outdoor gear and one I seek when looking for equipment and gear. This is why I was so surprised by the absolute epic fail of the Storm Mid Waterproof boot while out for a six-day hike along the Appalachian Trail.Previously I had used these boots in two shorter Pinhoti Trail shake-down hikes of 6 and 12 miles respectively after purchasing them our local outfitter. The boots needed to be broken in and no problems arose. The boots saved that for when I was on the much harder Appalachian trail and carrying a heavier load (~ 30# with food + water) along steeper ascents and descents. There were three major failures in the backcountry:1) The waterproofing gusset between the tongue and the laces dug in to both ankles that would make each step a torturous experience (Ankles swelled so much you couldn't see them);2) The boots do not breathe – at all, causing moisture from sweat to accumulate despite wearing Wigwam socks, liners and Gold Bond powder. Problems manifested in the biggest blister I've ever had; and,3) The tread has already started to separate from the bottom of the boot despite only hiking less than 50 miles in to them. I had just purchased them less than 3 months before the long AT hike. The problems manifested after the first major ascent some 5 miles in to the hike (Winding Stair Gap) and then progressively got worse. Luckily 26 miles in to the hike I came across a local outfitter near the trail and was able to swap out my North Face boots for a pair of similarly priced boots. These boots affirmed the problems associated with the North Face Storm Mid Waterproof boots. While similarly priced none of the problems above occurred during the next 30 or so miles to Fontana Dam, our terminus point for this particular section hike.Given the design flaw in the tongue waterproofing gusset it is a blessing that the treads prematurely separate. Your money is better spend on a different, more comfortable and durable boot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Buy My husband wore these boots for a little over a month and he would come home with soaking wet feet and within two months the soles were falling off. You would think Northface would make a more durable boot especially when you pay $120 for them. To be honest you are better off with a pair from Walmart for $40
