Beautiful design. Already used it multiple times (travel, camping trip). Its holds plenty & fits as a carry on in the over head bin easily.

Purchased XL sized pack on 3/29/25. Used in July 2025 on two 7 mile hikes. Both arm straps ripped at the seams away from the bag after the 2nd hike. Pack is worthless, unreliable and flat out dangerous if you are depending on it out in the remote wilderness. A replacement would be unacceptable as this design cannot be trusted with your life. A refund is the other answer but The North Face doesn't offer that with their limited warranty. Hence the 1 star.

Purchased April '25 and it's Aug 1st and the seam for the shoulder strap to the bag has started to give way. It has been used a handful of times at most.

I was so excited for this bag. It held all my gear, looked great, side straps were great, but then on the first day using the pack the shoulder straps tore!

I recently traveled to Puerto Rico excited knowing I had a large pack for the first time. The integrity of the shoulder straps didn't even last a SINGLE DAY. They began tearing as if weight was an issue despite it being made to carry a decent amount. Very disappointed. I would caution anyone buying this to only pack feathers in here because anything with weight will cause the straps to tear despite ones weight being distributed with the waist and chest straps. Forget using only the shoulder straps, that will surely tear them off completely

Purchased the Trail Lite 36 for town town-to-town hiking. The bag can pass as a carry-on on most airlines if not stuffed to the brim however, a fully packed bag would be technically too long for a cabin bag if the airline enforces this. I like that the back harness can be adjusted as well as the running pack-style shoulder straps. At 3 lbs, the weight is reasonable though not as light as some competing models. I was disappointed with how little padding the waist belt has and that it has the old-school pull outwards from the buckle adjustment. I will only find out if this thin waist belt would be comfortable for a full day of hiking once I get a chance to test it out on a hike. It may be a bit sweaty in hot environments as the back panel is only moderately vented.

I am currently using the bag for the Camino de Santiago. 158km in. Very handy pockets and space. I bought the L/XL and should have bought a smaller size so the hip belt will be tighter. There may be a solution that I haven't noticed. Having two chess straps is a blessing and so the other adjustments to pull off weight from the shoulders. The front right pocket should be bigger to accommodate for a 500ml hydration bag. (I took one from my Solomon running vest)

Back packing trip in Colorado. Efficient storage for the size of the pack. I love the stretchy side pockets

Smaller than I hoped but I can make do. Will look for a larger one for winter.

I used this thing on a 3-day backpacking trip last week and it did not disappoint. there is ample room for everything to stay nice and neat. plus it kept the weight down which allowed me to cover more ground in a shorter amount of time
