A Follow Up To My Previous

As a follow-up, because it would not let me change my rating. I have now had confirmation from both the email and phone customer service. They have informed me that they do not have any expectation that their material stand up to any part of a day of skiing, and "it doesn't matter if it was while skiing, on the chair lift, or carrying the skis". At the end of the call, I specifically asked if a jacket sold as a ski jacket, which tore with one day of basic use, upheld The North Face's quality standard, and I was assured that this is the expected quality of their product. Buyer beware. I might have been unlucky, and bought one with abnormally poor quality material. But if that's the case, the north face is denying as much. Their warranty is lip service only.

Poor Quality

I was very disappointed by this product. It is touted as a jacket you can wear skiing. I had purchased it two months prior to my first ski trip. No issues when wearing it casually. However, my very first time skiing with it, a whole tour in the material. I do not ski except on green runs, I did not take any hard falls, didn't hit anything like a rock, or anything else sharp. But by the end of my first day of skiing, there's a hole in the jacket. Whatever material the jacket is made of is clearly very poor quality. I would have said that perhaps I got a jacket with defective material, but the north face has told me it is not eligible for warranty coverage because this is the expected quality of the material.. This is extremely disappointing. Not worth the cost at all.

Very Good For Pnw Winters

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fits super well, color is beautiful and warm enough for the Pacific Northwest winters. The only issue is that it doesn't seem to be waterproof like described. Some plants that were wet in the garden touched my jacket and I noticed the water being absorbed. It may be water repellent during rain, but not completely waterproof.
