Disappointed
I just bought a new MR 300 with the new holster with the flap on the front. What a lousy design. I figured the flap would have some way of being secured when the unit is in operation but there’s not. This is my 3rd unit , I don’t go into the woods without my thermacell, but this one is a waste. Why change the design the old holster worked perfectly fine.

What Do You Do With The Flap?
I am a long-term ThermaCell fan. I have three of the portable units that I use in my backyard all summer. I definitely need to combine them to make a big enough space to cover my deck. Seems to work like a charm. In preparation for summer gardening, lawn mowing and cottage life, I bought portable unit and like other reviews which I had not read before purchasing, I realized I could not find a standalone clip to use with it. I broke down and purchased the holster and clip. I love the idea. I love the general features of the holster. And the ability to carry extra fuel and repellent pads. I used it for the first time today. I noticed I had not securely stowed the flap. And it had fallen over the front - multiple times. as I had this at my back to be out of the way, I had not noticed and had to keep checking. Made me concerned about the impact of the flap laying on the heated element. I was bug free, however not sure if the extra pads were compromised by being near the heat. I recommend either making the flap removable, or have an explicit mechanism to organize the flap to be out of the way but not blocking airflow when in use. Perhaps there is a recommended approach to stow the flap while in use. If there is, I could not find it when looking after the first use today. Rating a 3 as I like some of the features. And I needed the clip at a minimum (would have liked one I could have rotated) However would love more guidance shared about how to deal with the flap while in use. Any recommendations?

Horrible Clip-on System.
I love the Thermacell Portable Repellers. However, the design of the holster clip-on system is extremely poor. Here is why: 1. The clip is not firmly attached to the device and is prone to separation. I have lost several because of this. 2. The clip is not large enough or secure enough for heavy use. As a hunter, this is important. The clip-on system needs to be able to hook up to a 2" belt or molle webbing or both. It needs to be able to lock in place securely with 0% chance of becoming loose. 3. The front flap cover is useless. You don't want to use the device with it over the heating element. You also have no place to put it without interfering with the clip-on system. I don't understand why the original holster was scrapped. It worked much better than this one. The clip-on system was crappy with that one too. Thermacell is one RUGGED ATTACHMENT HOLSTER away from having a fantastic all around product line.

Great Product!!!
I've had one of these Therma cells for several years and when Turkey season rolls around in the spring time, this is one of the first things I dig out of my hunt'n stuff! *Only thing is the butane cartridge is hard to find!
