I bought this a couple weeks back and I didn't time installing the platform. This platform is very versatile and solid once assembled. I'll be honest, I was a little skeptical with how it would mount to the roof of my 2016 Toyota Highlander but after I installation was completed, I rocked it, pulled side ways, put some weight on it, etc and it is very very solid with no movement or play. Very sturdy. The only advise that I would mentioned is countercheck the footpack/fittings(sold separately) against Thule's recommended items when selecting the platform for your vehicle. I came across an issue with the recommended fittings only to find out that it is not compatible with the roof of Highlander, given that there are different trims - so, make sure you check. I had to locate the correct item locally and was lucky enough to find a set and returned the original item sent to me back to Thule for a refund. Overall, this is(and other Thule's product)a very very good product. I'm an avid fan of Thule products for 16+ years and I have not use any other manufacturer since then. Only quam I have is their instruction manual. You need to have the mindset of a European dude. No different with IKEA assy instructions, if you know what I mean.
