Hopefully Will Work Good On Our Cross Country Trip

The first couple of times I opened from the right side, both sides disconnected and came up. Was nearly impossible to reattach the top, but with help got it to close. I worked the locks over and over for a couple of days, now working ok. Didn't expect to have to do this.

This Box Fell From 24th Floor And Survived.

I own this box (Force XT) and it served me well all the time. I live in Spain (Valencia) and these days, Spain is under a storm - trees are falling in the city. My flat is on the 24th floor. My box was kept on the balcony for the last months. Until yesterday... Yesterday, the wind was so strong, it lifted the box and sent it flying. Box flew over the building and landed on the street. It's hard to believe, but no one was hurt, no property was damaged. Luckily, people don't go out in the storm. The box basically fell 24 stores and landed as an airplane in the middle of the street. I thought the box would not survive. But appears it only has some dents and scratches. Two locking hitches cracked and I'm looking for a replacement now. So there you have my story. Thule makes great boxes.

Updated Locking Mechanism!

This is my second Thule rooftop carrier box. The first is still functional, yet failing slowly as the locking mechanism is failed on one side. I was skeptical to purchase a new carrier considering this design flaw on the older carrier. However, upon inspection of the mechanism on the new Force 3 I purchased, Thule has done a good job beefing up the locking mechanism and removing the design flaw from previous versions.

Locks Don't Work

I bought the Thule before the holiday ski trip and on the day of departure, both locks were frozen (minus 3 Celsius). The key would not penetrate into either of the locks. I used a hair dryer to melt the lock, which worked. Arrived at my destination and both locks were once again impenetrable without another hair dryer session. Finally, when I returned home, the locks were once again frozen. I have owned several Thules in the past, and have never had this issue in freezing weather; however, when both locks don't work, it is not a good sign. I will be returning this product for sure.

Please Change The Owners Manual!!!!

This cargo box is great, but the owners manual is the worst I’ve ever seen for ANY product!!! There are pages and pages of drawings/graphics, but drawings alone are not always clear and helpful. I have no idea what some of them mean! It wouldn’t take much more effort to add a sentence or two to explain the instructions or warnings that go along with the graphics/illustrations and it would be extremely helpful!

The Perfect Addition To Any Vehicle!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Thule Force 3 is the perfect addition to our Toyota 4Runner! The delivery was fast, and the installation was a breeze. The trickiest part for me was positioning the box just right—I prefer to have it centered on the roof, as we often access gear from both sides depending on the situation. The XL size is a great fit for an SUV. Due to the design of our crossbars, we did need to shift the box back a bit further than we initially wanted, which prevents the trunk from opening fully. However, this is entirely our choice, and I don't fault Thule for this minor issue. We took the roof box on a skiing trip right away, and it held our 4 skis and poles with ease! It’s been a game-changer for freeing up space inside the car. While the box does make a bit of noise once we hit 70mph, it's nothing that bothers us. Overall, I highly recommend the Thule Force 3 to anyone in need of extra storage. We're thrilled to have it as part of our gear setup!
