owner of a local bike shop showed me the proper way to install; I suggest anybody who needs help to do the same; one problem: the straps are difficult to open if they are put on tight (if they are not tight the bike moves a little)

love this! excellent in my opinion! I have held two bikes on multiple trips without any issues. Highly recommend.

Had this rack for 4 years, used it a ton and love it! Held my bike solid for a 4500km road trip, no issues. I see a lot of reviews complaining about sturdyness, and I’m confused why unless they didn’t adjust the angle properly for they’re vehicle. I have a 29er hard tail mountain bike and it’s carried it for likely close to 8000km total at this point, also carried my bike and friends full supension bike at once , and and different time; my bike and a road bike with an XS frame, needed a couple adjustments for the small frame but I’ve only ever used the factory straps and had no issues whatsoever. I can do pull ups off the rack. Just needs to be tightened down well. Rack has done me well and after all its use still works perfect, fully intact just a couple scratches on it. Highly recommend for a non invasive rack that’s easy to install without a hitch or roof mounting.

Previously owned a Thule product which would go well on a sedan, but the current one is a huge disappointment. The stand for the bikes are very difficult to lock and unlock. Very difficult and cumbersome. Previously the hooks had metal cable and with a locking mechanism. In the current design, one can just cut the nylon straps and go away with it all! The plastic straps that hold the bikes in place fall off very easily and lost several straps. These straps are very cumbersome to operate especially unlocking them. The locking cable to lock the farthest bike is very short and very impractical. Feels like no one took this design seriously

The setup is weak, hard to set a mountain bike rock solid on the rack. It's always moving and scary. I love thule product but this one do not worth it. Make sure to install the hitch on your car and buy a proper rack. I used it 2 times and i'll not use it again and now my warranty is finished, so i'm stock with this item in my garage. Big fan of thule is a little disappointed here.

A year ago, a customer wrote the following review: It's bad enough that the instructions are all pictures and it's difficult to understand what they're telling you to do, but they removed the fit guide from their website that the instructions have you reference to determine the setting on the bike rack for your car. A complete waste of my Sunday afternoon trying to find a fit guide online that someone might have posted so I can install my bike rack." We had exactly the same experience. Thule responded with, we are redoing the web site. That was a year ago.

Gateway Prro is a very Excellent piece of bike equipment for the price. Thule is my new place for bike racks. Thule is my new source for any future bike rack I purchase!

I’ve used this bike rack twice. The initial installation instructions were not easy to understand and the plastic ratcheting straps are difficult to get undone when I need to get my bike off. The rack does not seem nearly as sturdy as my other Thule products. I will only be using this for trips to local trailheads.

So far so good. Easy to install- did it in the dark with a headlamp and only had to refer to the instruction guide a couple times. Hoping this will last as long as my previous one, 15 or so years.

I found this rack easy to install and use. However this style is easy to be stolen off the car - just cut one piece of webbing. I regret not adding a tow hitch to my car and going that direction for a bike carrier.

This rack design is awful. The instructions are just pictures with no words. Instructions direct reader to go to website to determine fit dial setting, yet that info is nowhere to be found on website. Bottom straps do not stay secure to car while driving. Rack dented by trunk during first use.

The rack fits my wife’s Nissan Altima just fine and if you tighten the straps before every use it is stable. However, no matter how tight we pull the straps holding the bike in place, highway bumps dislodge the bike and it nearly falls off while driving. We routinely have to stop along the road and re situate the bike on the rack. Not what we are looking for.

Very easy to use and fits well to the trunk of the car, but there is someting missing... maybe Thule should add some pieces of paint protector such as paint protection tape
