This is listed as compatible with my hatchback car. The side straps do not stay on the car. The whole thing came lose while driving.

Had this for several years and still strong and secure. We have 2 adult and one child bike.

We've had this bike rack for about a year. It is fine for transporting bikes. But when we're not transporting bikes, we want the arms pointing down. One of the arms moves relatively easily when I loosen the clip that tightens it in place, but the other one does not even when the clip is totally loose. Sometimes I can loosen the arm by prying at the hinger with a screwdriver, but other times I end up taking the clip off and hammering on the bolt to loosen it. We owned an earlier version of this rack for many years--it was a little less robust but great to use.

Had been struggling to find a 3 bike car rack that didn't need a trailer hitch and would fit a VW Tiguan. Used the website tool to determine whether it would fit my vehicle and found it would so ordered it. Purchase and shipping tracking worked well and it arrived about a week later at the post office. Got around to giving a try to install it one week later. The instructions are not great particularly viz a viz the anti-sway support that is on one of the two bike frame supports and it folds down 90 degrees. Fortunately there were YouTube videos that set me straight. It is simple to install after the first time and holds the bikes firmly in place. I have 3 bikes with 56 and 58 frame sizes and it's plenty roomy. Highly recommend!

Simply the worst instruction booklet I have ever seen. No directions on how to access the Fit Guide. Bleh.

I've been using my Gateway to carry an EZ Rider recumbent. None of the hitch mount carriers I've found can accommodate recumbent wheel-bases so this is perfect!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this and out of th box and set up to carry and transport bikes 15 minutes. Instructions spot on. Delivered no issues on time and in great shape.

I opted for the 3 bike option and, unless I remove the pedals off all my bikes, I will never be able to fit three bikes on the rack. Not only would the bike closest to my car scratch my car, it's already a tight squeeze with 2 bikes on the 3 bike option. The system is also really difficult to fit on most mountain bikes because the support buckles are so large, which is super unfortunate. We ended up having to get another bike because one of our mountain bikes was completely impossible to get on the rack because it's frame wasn't the standard "triangle" Thule assumes it is. It is also a huge pain that there is no built in way to lock it to your car (and the car lock Thule sells separately can be easily cut), so we have to disassemble it and put it away in our car every time we go on a trip so that we can be sure it isn't easily stolen. That's a big pain too. All that said, I'm glad I got this as it is going the job for now. But, I will likely consider upgrading to something more expensive because I am also pretty disappointed. Bought the Thule Gateway Pro 3 for a 2010 chevy cobalt.

I had this installed by my bike shop. The straps popped off and scratched my car. I then couldn’t get the tightened off the bike, had to cut it. Livid.

I forgot to tie the straps together that I wasn't using, and they fell out. Now I'm trying to find replacement straps, but getting these exact ones is proving kinda hard. Not recommended for this simple, but perhaps costly, annoyance.

Not really anything wrong with the bike rack per se, but in the instruction booklet half the pages were blank/missing and there are missing pieces on the rack. On the underside of three of the bike rests, the covers were not installed.

Bought the Gateway Pro 3...the bikes fit, but the bottom rubber supports which sit on the bumper split apart after 2 months. Now, a towel wrapped around the bottom is the replacement. Sadly so, on many occassions, a longer drive means that the bottom hooks come loose-it only takes few bumps in the road. Nothing has fallen off, but the feeling of insecurity as a driver lingers.

I bought this rack, installed it correctly and when I opened my truck the top fasteners gouged my car. They are rounded which means they don’t tuck out of the way. I have had other bike racks that have never done this!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this bike rack about a month ago to use on a 2015 VW Golf and it has been really excellent. I have only put 2 bikes on it so far but it is completely solid on short trips and when used for a 300mi trip I stopped to tighten the straps once to be safe, but it was still very solid overall. My biggest complaint is that the instructions for installing it are terrible. The instructions feature hardly any text, relying entirely on illustrations making it difficult to follow at times. It probably took an hour to finally get it installed properly. Also, tightening the straps (which is very important for keeping the rack sturdy) requires a good amount of strength to do, so I couldn’t tighten it as much as I’d like without help. Overall, it’s a good bike rack, but the instruction manual needs a major update.

I bought this bike rack about 2 weeks ago to use for an upcoming trip and future adventures. I transported 2 Bikes 197 Miles holding a constant 75 MPH. There were no issues with the Bike Rack or any damage to my vehicle. I drive a 2018 Nissan Rogue the Bike Rack was easy to install and did not limit my view. The Bikes were sturdy and did not move a single inch both ways for my trip. I highly recommend this Bike Rack as it's affordable and easy to use.
