I have been searching for this for years and almost built something like this myself with some steel tubing. Thule needs to add some additional strength into the bar when locking it down. I can tear mine out at anytime after I have locked it down and tightened as much as possible. The attachment I require for my full suspension doesn’t work properly so I had to take it off and utilize an old trusted method of locking bikes down. I look forward to seeing this further develop.

Great Rack
I have been using this rack in the Arizona sun for about 5 years. It is great and works perfectly. I like the idea that our expensive mountain bikes are in the bed of our truck, not on a hitch or roof rack. Certainly more protected here. I would certainly purchase this rack again if I needed to.
