Rated 5 out of 5 by from First pair lasted me 10 years. Time for some new ones. The Chocorua was my first "real" pair of boots. I bought them about 12 years ago for attending a summer camp, as well as other various camping trips. Over 10 years later, they are finally worn out... and by that, I mean the sole has worn down almost smooth. The leather upper and insides are still usable; With a flat sole, the boot doesn't give me a peace-of-mind anymore. I've only had to replace the laces once, and I think that was my fault. Overall, the material used is very high quality, and the Gore-Tex never failed me. Here's to another 10 years with my next pair! I love these boots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value priced, solid and water proof I have purchased 2 pairs of this boots and now am on the 3rd pair. I wear them every day for work, walking sidewalks and roads 5 days a week. The sole and ankle support are solid. The Gore-tex is a bonus at this price. I often wear them on weekends as well for light duty chores. They seem to last about 9-10 months with heavy use. I wear the soles right of on all the pavement and cement sidewalks. Over 80 days here over 100 degrees and they breath well. The leather and uppers hold up well and look in good shape till you turn them over. It could use a slightly stiffer arch or insert, but I use an aftermarket one that suites me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Pair of boots for the price Best pair of boots that I have ever owned. Just now going to retire my first pair that I have had for 2 1/2 years. With about 400 miles on the App. Trail and wore them about day for work the pavement and concrete walking finally took its toll. I love these boots, they so comfortable I never had a bad day with my feet hurting. And waterproof, yes they are, through snow, creeks, and wet meadow grass my feet stayed dry and warm. Got the same pair for Christmas and have put just a few miles on them but they feel the same as my old ones. Going to buy another pair to have on reserve just in case and will put old ones on a shelf to reflect back on for the good miles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic style, excellent so far. I own these boots. Purchased them at a Dick's store after trying them on. I'm no fan of Timberland boots, purchased a few pairs over the years and I find they are over priced and more tech-talk than actual quality (especially their work boots). Timberland customer service is terrible, it's legendary. But the Chocorua model fits well, my feet are a medium width and I use an orthotic insert for plantar facitis. Snug but comfortable, firm foot bed and relatively light on my feet. I use these boots for a variety of light activities to include walking, hiking, work in my wood shop (garage with concrete floor) and casual wear. Remains to be seen if they will hold up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wear Out Quickly I have purchased 2 of these boots. The first time I put them on they were so comfortable I did not want to take them off. Wore out the first pair and bought another pair. Have them about worn out. They last a year. The rubber on the toe comes unglued and the sole on the side comes unglued. The tread wears out; gets thin and I can feel rocks through the sole. Will have to find another brand more durable. I live in the New Mexico mountains where there are rocks and pine needles and wear them every day. I glue the rubber toes back on a couple of times but it doesn't last. Wish they could make them more durable. For the price they should last several years, not just one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best boots I've ever owned I have owned 7 pairs of these now and they all have fit perfect right out of the box. Since I use them for my everyday shoes they only last me about a year per pair. In that year I average 3-5 miles a day just for work so just over 1000 miles per year for work only. Then if you add in the hikes and just general walking outside of work, add another 1000 easily. I have never had any problems with the waterproofing until the end of life. A little cleaning and maintenance with some mink oil goes a long way. Hoping that Timberland continues this line for a long time to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did my research; couldn't be happier. I tried at least 6 different manufacturers: different weight, styles, material, etc. Most seemed stiff, clunky, too heavy, didn't fit right or down right uncomfortable. While any shoe needs an adjustment period, the Timberland mid-ankle boot is the perfect weight to be comfortable, not too heavy to make my feet sweat or restrict the opportunity to wear them, but rugged enough to do serious hiking it I want. the adjustment period was / is negligible and wear doing chores around the house or kicking that snowy white stuff off my boots.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Epic Fail I've just got these boots to work, due the waterproof promise. As an engineer, I have to enter a lot of places that contains about one and a half inches of water on the floor. In order to not have to use rubbermaid boots, because they are big to carry and unconfortable to use all day long, I thought I had found the best of both worlds... At home, before I try the real enviroment, I put some water on a bukcet, taking care to not exceed the height limits. In about 3 minutes my socks were all wet. It does not leak, but the soft material between the external leather/nylon and the Gore-Tex waterproof protection inside, will carry the water up to your legs, meeting the socks, leading the water down inside the boots!
