I purchased the much lauded, expensive Zeiss 8x42. I returned them and bought a pair of Vortex 8x42 for 2/3 less. They are Lighter, Tighter and Brighter! There is a lot of cloud cover this Spring in New England. I think they will be good with their wide angles for a little star gazing. So far, they have been superb looking at the trees and the Atlantic. Where are the striped bass? I hope to see the shore birds swooping down to reveal the bigger fish. I plan some birding too. So far, they are the best binoculars I have ever looked through.

After a lot of research and good reviews from experts I decided to give these binoculars a try. I originally bought them for a cruise to Alaska. I am enjoying the binoculars on my hikes also. They are lightweight, easy to use and very clear. I am happy with my purchase.

I have used these for two seasons and they work really well for scanning heavy cover out to 300 meters particularly in low light situations.
