Good Balance

Powerful Racket

A Poor Replacement For Prostaff 97 V13

My ProStaff 97 v13s reached the end of their natural lives. They were outstanding rackets. Solid and stable, offering power and control for a 4.5-5.0 player. I was misled into thinking the ProStaff 97 v14 was the appropriate replacement racket. On paper, that made sense given the identical specs (unstrung weight, length, head size, balance). However, the new "technology" that Wilson introduced for the v14 ruined the racket. Compared with the v13, the v14 feels less substantial while being slower through the hitting zone. Put another way, its "lightness" does not make it faster. It steals power, rather than amplifying, or even preserving, power. It's the worst of all worlds.

Dump String Mapping, Make A 16x19 And A 18x20

In my opinion the string mapping is the only thing bad about this racket. I play with poly at lower tensions and for me the launch angle is very inconsistent due to the diference in string spacing if you hit just a bit off in the sweet spot. Or give us a 320g version of the Six.One 95 18x20 which is the best racket i ever played but kills me after an hour.

Adjustment Period

I've had it for about a month and I've been going back and forth between this racket and my v13. The v14 has a little bit heavier feel to it even though the specs are identical. It is an improvement on the backhand and slice. More power of the forehand for sure, although with the increased plow through I'm still trying to find the control I had with the v13. The serve has nice pop, but that stroke took some reps to adjust to with the racket change. I think the upside is higher with the v14 and it absolutely rewards good technique, but like the previous version, is not forgiving when the player is sloppy.

Great Feel

I purchased this last week. Strung it up and have played with it. Great feel, power and control. Would highly recommend. I’m a retired teaching pro. I really like this racquet.

Feels Great But Too Fragile.

I have had this racket for 6 months, I never abuse it , and the racket already has an internal fracture that causes it to vibrate on contact. You can hear it just by tapping on the frame. I’ve been playing for 40 years and no other rackets had this problem. The V13’s had problem with butt cap not staying in place and upgraded to this and more problems. Not happy.

This racket is the perfect mix of power and control. Expecially after I added weight to the grip, 12, 3 & 9 o'clock on the racket head.

Great Control

I felt v14 is an improvement from my prostaff97 I 4 years ago. Serves improves even when I grip the racket lightly. Volleying is better and able to control ball distance better. Highly recommend.
