I did a lot of research on different treadmills before settling on this one. All the reviews were similar: it's a reliable treadmill for walkers, but not the best for runners. I mostly walk, but jog enough that I knew I'd use this occasionally for it. My long distance running days are long behind me so I knew I wouldn't use it to train for anything. The other thing all professional reviews mentioned was that it would need maintenance or calibration. Hmmm... When the package arrived, the bottom was completely torn open, but I couldn't see any noticable damage to the unit itself. Everything looked normal when I unpacked it so I didn't think there was concern. Installation was alright. The instructions were incorrect for a couple of the bolts though. They had the wrong bolts noted for part of the handrails. I triple checked and figured out the ones they said to use were way too short. The other two that were left worked perfectly. After getting everything setup and turned on, the treadmill came to life. The display is bright and better than I imagined it would be. I didn't bother with the program modes and just started walking. The tread is responsive and comfortable and the speed and incline change nicely. The fan is awful - it makes more noise than actually cooling you off. The cord they sent for the speakers didn't work and even when I tried multiple other cords I could only get the right side speaker to work. Oh well. The main reason I would NOT RECOMMEND this treadmill is the maintenance involved. I've used many treadmills over the last 25 years and have never come close to tripping or falling off. On my first jogging experience I tripped twice while the speed transitioned from 6mph to 4. The tread gets slack built up and causes you to stumble. I followed the manufacturer's recommendation for tightening the tread, but it still hasn't helped. I'll most likely return this and get something else.
