Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable Easy to Use Very Portable Great Price I bought these for my daughter because the steps into her third floor apartment are old, steep, and totally exposed to the elements (on the outside of the building). She reports that Yaktrax work great on her stairs and make her fell much safer in inclement weather conditions. She likes them so much that she made sure to pack them for her month long European trip, even though she had a very small weight limit since everything she took with her had to fit in the backpack she carried everywhere. She used the Trax in Iceland and on a mountaintop above Innsbruck, Austria. She says she will, without hesitation, buy herself a another pair when she finally wears these out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous! I don't slide at all! My son bought these for me last year. I attached them to my purse, and put them on anytime there was a possibility of ice.I live in Michigan, so that is most of the winter. They are great for parking lots, walking down the driveway-- anytime I'm out of the house. The ads are all for outdoor types because they are young and cute. I'm 60, I've slipped and hit my head a few times on pavement in the past. You do not need to be a hiker to need these. Yaktrax are wonderful! I'm not afraid to walk from my car into the office any more. I'm buying them for all my friends for Christmas this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more slipping! I bought a pair for my husband and myself. My husband thought that I was being overly cautious and was not interested in them. We live on a hill and our driveway is slanted so when we got freezing rain he was salting the drive and taking very cautious steps and sliding, I suggested he just try the yaktrax -he did and now he's completely sold! He salted the entire drive and was able to walk all around with 0 slipping. He is now recommending them to friends. I also bought myself a pair and had the same experience on a driveway that was covered in ice - 0 slipping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better traction than other brand, but not as durab I've depended on Yaktrax for years with pairs for various winter shoe wear. The wound spring style works better than the spikes on my Stabilicers in most situations, especially when stopping a sideways slide. But, I just cut up 2 Yaks last night (to reduce danger of wildlife entrapment after disposal), a single foot on 2 different pairs - a 'glow' and a black. On each, 2 of the rubber connecting points had snapped so they no longer laid flat on the bottom of my feet. So, I will use the 2 remaining halves as a pair until they 'blow out'. Will probably then buy another, but hoping that the rubber will be upgraded somehow to last longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly effective! I tried these in spite of my skepticism about their ability to create good traction on ice, since the "treads/spikes" are rounded coils rather than sharp spikes.I was very pleasantly surprised at how much they improved my ability to avoid slipping on my ice-coated driveway. And, unlike spiked metal traction soles, these don't ruin indoor flooring — so you don't have to keep putting them on and taking them off as you go outdoors and back in again on errand-running icy days.Size was good (as described). The Yaktrax fit onto my cute size 7 1/2 winter boots, with only a little tugging. And, they stay in place. Kudos, Yaktrax!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke After Two Days These do provide extra traction but broke after two days. Not happy at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beats my snowshoes on icy trails I picked this product up for spring hiking as the trails I walk are very packed down and can be icy in spots. The first time I walked the trail after it had been hard-packed I was on my snowshoes which were noisy and slid on downhills (on the iced over spots) even with the crampons. The Yaktrax allowed me to walk more natural and grabbed and held both up and downhill. If you fit them on your shoes correctly and take the time to make sure they fit right thay stay on even under rough conditions. I have only used them twice but they will help start my hiking season earlier as I feel confident in the woods with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work great for snow and ice My company provides these to its drivers, free of charge, to help prevent slips and falls during the winter months. I used them for the first time today in Maine walking in packed snow for about 1/8 of a mile and didn't slip once, while other people were slipping every few feet. They are easy to get on and off and I was able to walk like I normally would on dry pavement. For short distances (walking from a parking spot to a business) I would highly recommend these. As to the durability of this product, I can not comment as I have only used them once. However, if used for their intended purpose, (walking on snow or ice) I would think they would hold up well. The "walk" model of the Yaktrax are not designed to be worn all day while working outdoors. This model is for people walking short distances on snow and ice. For someone who works outside all day, or wants to use them for hiking, I would probably suggest looking at one of the other models. One last comment. Do not wear these indoors, especially on tile surfaces. Wet metal on tile = instant slip.
