Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality cooler The Yeti cooler is a very high quality cooler that is good for outdoors activities. It lives up to its reputation of keeping your stored items very cold and ice frozen even in hot environments. It kept my ice frozen and my perishable foods very cold when I drove through the desert and then up into the mountains when the temperature in and outside my vehicle was over 100F - and that was even with not filling the cooler with the recommended amount of ice to food ratio. I am eager to see how it performs on a multi day camping trip this summer. The craftsmanship is excellent - the hinges feel very sturdy, the seals are tight, it has non slip pads on the bottom and the bear-resistant latches feel snug but easy to operate. I like the dual handle system - the corded hands make carrying it for two people easy and the molded handles make carrying it for one person manageable. I like the Tundra 50 better than the Tundra 45 - because the dimensions seem to be better proportioned to hold more items and the price increase was not that significant, but this is just my personal opinion - I recommend that you look at it in person and decide which works better for your own needs. Even though Yeti coolers are very expensive, I am looking at it as a long term investment. If it is durable and lasts through many years of use with better performance over the inexpensive coolers I have been using in the past, then it may be overall more cost effective than having to replace coolers more frequently and losing food that did not stay cold enough. I guess time will answer that question, but I am hopeful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It’s ok Bought the Tundra 50. Doesn’t keep the ice packs cold like I thought. We bought 4 yeti ice packs and still disappointed. We will not give up as we spent a small fortune on this cooler

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Yeti I’ve bought yet. Best one yet, I hate they are going to discontinue this size. It is perfect for the ballfied and camp outing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expert advice from an HVAC Technician. I bought my Tundra 50 for the soul purpose of keeping my water and electrolyte beverages colder for longer periods of times without having to keep icing them down. My Tundra sits between the 2 front seats of my E-350 van with the optional hose bib drain connector and attached hose running through a "P-trap" and then exiting the vehicle. I did this so the cooler will self drain itself and the trap prevents warm air from entering the cooler through the drain. On other brand coolers I was using 30 lbs of ice a day, and my Tundra uses 30 lbs every 3 to 4 days dependant on the ambient air temperatures. In a vehicle here in Eastern North Carolina, temperatures can exceed 122*F easily, I have yet before now used a cooler that keeps my hydration needs nice and cold with less maintenance involved (putting more ice in) . This cooler has become the official cooler for the company I work for, 4 other co-workers have bought Tundras and set theirs up in various ways to their liking, because of the performance it delivers. I am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to everything the YETI company comes out with. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow the ice retention I just purchased a new boat it fish in the Atlantic off the coast of central Florida. We spent a good portion of the day trolling in the hot Florida sun. In the 65 quart cooler we had 40lbs of ice and in the 50 quart we had 2 20lbs bags. The first fish went into the fish box on board with 1/2 bag of the 20 lb the second fish went in and we covered it with ice I the box. This fish another 1/2 bag. About an hour later we added another 20lbs. As it melted we tapped into the 65 qt tundra and removed the 40 lb bag on the mahi-mahi and We started to head in as it was about 95 deg out. Both coolers held the ice so well it appeared that we just bought them. The fish box on board not so much. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality and More Quality I’ve got a Hopper 20 and Hopper 30 “soft coolers” and have never been disappointed with either one during my river and golf excursions. So I finally pulled the trigger and got the Yeti 50. And just like the Hoppers it’s better than advertised!! I’ll never go back to a $30.00 temporary cooler with cheap handles and cheap lids that just fail during regular use. Yeti has set the standard. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
