Keep in mind these factors when selecting your new pool cue:
- Wrap: The wrap of your pool cue is used for grip. Sticks come with a variety of fabrics wrapped around the shaft, including leather, rubber, standard felt and Irish Linen. Some shafts are simply constructed of wood, which offers ideal grip.
- Tip: The cue tip is the top portion of the stick that makes contact with the ball. The energy of your pool cue is transferred to the ball through this location. Softer tips absorb impact for greater spin. Harder tips do not absorb as much energy, creating lesser spin.
- Weight & Balance: Most cues weigh between 18 and 21 ounces. Some designs concentrate the weight in the back or front end.
