By using cleatPRO® or Mizuno glove steamers, our PROS can quickly soften the leather, relax the seams and shape and mold the pocket and hinge points to deliver a custom fit. This process is great for both brand-new and pre-worn gloves.
cleatPRO® Glove
Break your glove in like the pros! cleatPRO® Glove is designed to break in and shape gloves effectively and quickly. With the capacity to steam multiple gloves simultaneously, our PROS use cleatPRO® Glove to shape gloves for your entire roster. cleatPRO® Glove is used by MLB® teams during spring training and throughout the regular season.
Mizuno Steamer
Mizuno glove steamers are designed to evenly distribute steam into the glove's leather. Our PROS can pre-treat your glove with a leather conditioner on the laces, palm and seams before steaming. Remember to keep your steamed glove at its best with our assortment of glove care products and accessories.
While you may consider glove steaming at home, doing so is dangerous for both you and your glove. Instead, bring in your glove and our Glove PROS will use professional equipment and have the appropriate training to ensure proper glove steaming. Glove steaming is FREE with glove purchase at DICK'S of $159.99 or more (Bring in your receipt if purchased online) A previously owned glove or glove purchased for under $159.99 costs $25 for a steaming.
Leather Conditioner
PROS use a specialized, manufacturer-approved conditioner to prep the leather. This opens pores in the leather, helping it soften.
Steamer
The glove is placed into a steamer at time increments based on the type of leather. Heat loosens the leather and laces, while the steam infuses the glove with water molecules to make it more malleable at key break-in points.
Wooden Mallet
In between steaming, PROS pound the steamed glove with a wooden mallet to loosen hinge points of the glove until they achieve the custom fit you need.
