After getting through a NYC December/January where conditions ranged from 40F with heavy rain to nearly 10F with strong wind and snow, I can officially say I love this jacket. It ’s very stylish and the warm adjustable hood is a highlight. I prefer the flexibility of having a versatile “ lighter ” jacket that can get through three seasons but this jacket isn ’ t super light. When it got down into the 20s, I just layered with a light insulated vest and the jacket remained effective. I don ’ t understand some of the complaints in other reviews… two- way zippers are always a little more difficult to zip up but with the longer length of the jacket, it ’s well worth it. And no, my arms didn ’ t get cold in the jacket either.

I purchased this jacket to replace a Skogso. I wanted something that was waterproof and with a bit more cover. This jacket is fantastic. I live in the PNW and we have damp `` cold '' weather.( rarely below freezing.) so this jacket is better suited for here the the standard Nuuk Parka.

The jacket is great! Reviews regarding double zipper, not true. You just need to learn how to zip it:)( or do you still wear shoes with Velcro?:) Zipper is great if you need to unzip jacket from the bottom. Very warm, length is great, hood is adjustable so you can actually see something when walk. Highly recommended! Great product, runs a big larger than other brands.

This jacket is super high quality and is warm, waterproof and windproof. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ”, 190lbs, athletic build. The Men ’s size medium fits perfect, with room for layers without being too small or too big. It is long below the waist so there is a double zipper to allow you to manuever into your car or a chair without pulling the jacket up to your waist. I removed the faux fur from my hood, it comes off easily with buttons. The fur just wasn ’ t my style. A few people complained about the double zipper, which is plastic( not metal), and is a YKK branded zipper. I ’ ve had no issues with the double zipper. Someone complained about the arm length. There are velcro cuffs so you can control how low you want the cuffs to go. No issues for me there. Bonus: there are two zippered hidden pockets, one on the inside of the main vertical zipper and one on the outside of the zipper. This outside pocket allows you to access items without unzipping the coat. Another bonus: there are two large pockets on the inside of the coat large enough to store ski googles. I happily store my winter scarf in there for when the temperature drops down and the wind picks up. Chest- level hand warmer pockets are comfortable and fantastic for walking or standing in the cold. I wore this coat for a trip in Seattle during the cold and rainy October season and it kept the wind and rain at bay, no wind or water got through. I ’ ve wearing this coat here in Orlando, FL for the cold winter months and have stayed quite warm and cozy! Keep in mind, this is the “ Nuuk Lite Insulated ” version so it ’s perfect for Seattle or Orlando. Fjallraven makes a warmer version called “ Nuuk Insulated ” which is probably more suited to arctic places like snowy parts of Canada or New England. I highly recommend!

I ’ ve had this jacket for over a year, and I absolutely love it. It ’s one of the warmers I ’ ve owned. It has a ton of pocket space( I literally put a puppy in it), and the hood keeps the snow and wind off your face. 10/10 recommend. The only negative is it takes a while to dry.

I needed a jacket for a December Sweden and Iceland trip and this jacket was perfect! I tried the SINGI DOWN JACKET M also but thought that one was a little more extreme, My needs for this trip were just being out in the elements half days. The Nuuk Parka M kept me so warm! Some days I only had a tee shirt on under it. I never needed a thermal top under it. Only occasionally an additional layer. It was wind proof and very water resistant. My only two critiques are 1) The zipper. It was difficult to latch at times and 2) Too many pockets. There are 11 and at time I had trouble remembering what was where. 10/10 love this coat though. Made winter weather a breeze to deal with!

I have now been through one full year with my Nuuk parka. It is truly amazing. Extremely high quality, truly waterproof, yet not too heavy. Extremely warm. I sometimes forego gloves and just use the parka's lined hand pockets. The hood is very adjustable with the wire frame. Very well- designed pockets, and lots of them external and internal. I sometimes forget which pocket I used for something. So, the zipper. I have gotten used to it but getting the zipper inserted and started can be a challenge, especially in low light. I do wish it was easier. Nonetheless, this parka is about as close to perfect as I have ever seen. Very highly recommended. I am considering also getting the Nuuk Lite for its similar build quality and features, to use when it is the temperatures are too high to use the Nuuk.

I 've had this for two months now and it is outstanding. To get the one awkward bit out of the way: the double zipper is weird, I 'd never used one before. It took me about a week to figure out how to use it, and a month before I could do it without looking/thinking about it. It is easy so long as you are patient and willing to learn. While I do n't see the purpose of being able to unzip from the bottom, the zipper itself is robust and I bet will last a long time. There is a long list of things to love about this jacket, so I 'll try to be brief. First, it is warm as an oven. I personally run a bit hot and love the winter, for me this jacket makes sense below freezing, anything higher and I 'll wear something simpler. It is incredibly light for a jacket this warm. The lack of bulk for something that is so well insulated is very impressive. There are so many small details the jacket gets right, too many to list, but one of them that I particularly love is the sleeve is just a bit long, enveloping your hand with ease if you want it to( I wear a L winter glove). The hood is a ridiculous powerhouse. I do n't know what the conditions would need to be for a knit hat plus that hood to be necessary. Putting that hood on a bare head is like going into a warm cocoon. In the city with the wind tunnels on a day in the teens, everything above my mid- thigh was pure warmth.

I purchased this jacket 2 months ago at a local PA outdoors retailer for use in the northeast US. I read many reviews and had settled between the Nuuk and the NF McMurdo. I actually purchased the McMurdo first after reading about the Nuuk zipper and trying it at the store. But after having the McMurdo it just really wasn ’ t my style and I was left coveting the Nuuk. I went back to the the retailer and actually tried on the Nuuk again, the zipper that everyone seems to talk about gave me trouble, probably took 2 minutes to hookup and I thought “ this would be a pain everyday ”. Then I tried again, took 30 seconds to hookup and I thought there must be a trick to this…… pinched both zipper pulls with my left hand while keeping them at the bottom, dropped the zipper in and magic! Tried again, and again, and zipper problem no more! I think people leaving reviews about the zipper must be reviewing on day one, because it is truly honesty a non issue. Yes it is different than US jackets, but that ’s it, it ’s just different. Enough on the zipper( Zipper is fine, works as it should). Now finally had some real winter weather to test this Nuuk jacket, some temps in the low 20s with wind chills in the teens with gusty cold winds, snow, and freezing rain……. This jacket is everything advertised! This jacket blocks the cold and wind period, simple base layers( T- shirt and sweater), and I am warm and comfortable. I ’ m absolutely certain proper layering in even colder temps will prove even better protection( which I will test soon in Barrow Alaska) and update. This jacket has pockets galore to store/ carry everything, gloves, phone, wallet, extras will fit. The lower hand warmer pockets are a little weird to get your hands in, think a little different cut would make this perfect but they are fleece lined and do the job. I also wish it had the recessed rib knit cuffs instead of the Velcro closures at the wrist, but again they do the job especially when wearing gloves. The hood is large, fleece lined and the faux fur blocks wind, the drawcord and wire in the hood let you make adjustments as needed to keep the elements out. I may in the future replace the Faux fur for real fur, we will see. For the fit, I am 6ft 205lbs with 34 inch waist, went with a large and it fits perfect with room for needed layers when appropriate. Overall extremely happy with my purchase, I am generally a value shopper and normally would not consider a jacket at this price point( I did full disclosure purchase on sale), and it has so far been worth every penny.

I do like the additional helpful thumb hole sewn to the sleeves, it is soft and cozy. ... Protects from wind and rain. ... Very Warm Coat ... The sleeves covers up to my fingers but that's okay, it keeps them warm especially in the pockets that lack fleece all

I stood and watched the Bills crush the 49ers while the snow came down. I was almost too warm. I cleaned my car off in sub zero temps wearing boots, gym shorts and this jacket. I could have stayed out longer and not been bothered by the temp. A highly recommended jacket for those days when it's so cold you 'd rayher not leave the house.

I use this as an everyday jacket for plain clothes LE work in PA. It is insanely warm for how light weight it is. Water repellency and wind resistance is excellent. Excellent balance between weight and warmth. Only downfall is the length makes it difficult to get to a sidearm when zipped up.

Impressive 3- 1 after wearing out my North Face 3- 1 system I have wore for years. Bought this to replace it and I am happy with what my research settled upon. Love the zip out silk liner as a stand alone lite duty jacket, a nd the shell works excellent as a rain cover. This is a great system for a beginner or an expert in the field or out on the town. Size runs true and is a little longer than expected but I did not mind the extra length to cover my hind end.

Love this coat. Just wore it for a weekend in Seattle where it was windy and rainy and while It was more than I needed, I ’ m glad I had the protection. There are so many great features like the fleece lined pockets, the hood adjuster, the outer hook for hanging, the cinch toggle inside. I really appreciate the thought that went into the design. Only downside is the zipper is hard to latch

Bought this parka and did a ton of research on other brands as well. I wanted the most bang for my buck and I feel that this parka had the best quality and features for the cost! I love how it isn ’ t super tight on your body and overstimulating with other layers. It fits really well with thick base layers or thin layers underneath and greta for both cold and mild temps. Very durable thus far!

[ This jacket is amazing. It fits loosely enough for outdoor activities and looks fashionable for my active lifestyle. Kept me super warm at the football game on Christmas Eve. Lots of big pockets to keep hands free. May have to buy another one in a different color! Maybe even get to Iceland as well now that I have the perfect coat!

Sam
I love this coat. I bought this recently when temps were regularly in the low 20s to low 30s and with a base layer and mid layer, it was perfect. Love the pockets for storage but also ones at the waist for your hands. Nice to have the drawstring at the waist and hood for cinching. The only slight downside is the Velcro on the head to pull back the hood from drooping over your eyes is placed a little too high; I have the very bottom edge of the Velcro used to keep the fur just at the top of my eyesight, so I have a feeling at some point I may be amending this with my own attachable Velcro. Quality materials and well worth the price. So glad this works in cold temps( that I ’ m used to experiencing!) but also something I can wear in the more typically mild- ish winters I ’ m used to, which are upper 30s to mid 40s.

[ This jacket is a great all around windbreaker. The fit is oversized and can fit over a lot of layers+ allows a full range of motion. The snaps and zipper are solid. Arms are about average length/what you ’ d expect. The color is a great vibrant green. As to this jacket ’s waterproof- ness I would probably suggest something billed as an actual rain jacket. I think this one could stand up to a drizzle to light rain for a set amount of time, but wouldn ’ t be what I grabbed in anything more. I gave the jacket five stars because I was looking for a windbreaker and this fits the bill.

I really love this coat and all the small features that make it so nice. I love all the pockets, it actually fits a 1L water bottle. I love the little fleece details in the hood, at your face, and in the hand pockets. It ’s very warm, and I can choose to layer( or not) and still be warm. I kept my normal size small due to my broader shoulders and wanting it to be able to wear a sweater without my shoulders feeling restricted. It definitely is boxy, but I don ’ t pick coats based on that, but all the other features like staying warm. I really like how big the hood is, it actually fits both my head and a ski helmet, which is nice. I also love the length of the coat and how it ’s slightly longer than my waist. I appreciate the double zipper, when I get into the car I ’ ll unzip the bottom a touch so it ’s looser which makes any tightness when sitting down go away.

Love, love, love this jacket. I am that girl who is always freezing, especially if it's windy I do n't stand a chance. Well this jacket has been a lifesaver, got me through- 20F weather with no problem, it blocks the wind and moisture. The pockets at mid level, that are fleece lined, are a blessing. I did a lot of research before buying this coat and I do n't regret it. Now it may not be as form fitting as one might want but honestly when you are warm in dead of winter, who cares. Also it has a million pockets, after 2 winters I still keep finding new ones.

I love mine. Bought December 2019. The zipper was always difficult and today it failed. I 'd like to get it repaired. And seriously considering another. I ’ ve had this coat for a few years now and look forward to pulling it out each winter. It ’s warmer than any other coat I ’ ve owned and feels like a cozy hug. I know of at least 3 other people who have purchased this coat because of how much I rave about it! They ’ ve all been so happy with it as well. Unfortunately it no longer fits me due to health reasons and I ’ m not able to afford to purchase another one because of other life circumstances but I definitely would if I could!

We live in a hot climate so a cooler and breathable jacket was a must. The jackets are definitely cool and repel water perfectly. Im guessing they sized these with the idea that kids would be wearing jackets under? If that is indeed the case i would like to see perhaps a `` warm weather line '' where sizing is truer. END RANT.... I took the time to measure and help other parents. here are the results: Children's Small: Jacket: From Neckline to wrist equals 15. 5 inches. From shoulder to Bottom of the jacket equals 24inches. Trousers: Waist circumference is 20 inches( 24 '' when stretched) Length is 32 inches children's Medium: jacket: from neckline to wrist equals 22. 75 inches. From Shoulder to Bottom of the jacket equals 25 inches. Trousers: Waist circumference is 24 inches( 30 '' when stretched) Length is 32 inches YES, Both small and Medium trousers are the same length.

For the price, this is definitely a bargain. I was a little skeptical when the product came in but I ran water over it for 10 minutes and not a drop came through! It seemed to be breathable enough when my son wore it on a camping trip in 90 degree heat. The only negative is that it is a little bulky. However, I plan to buy another one for my other child.

Bought this for my 8 year old to go to Minnesota for a week long fishing trip. He stayed warm and dry whether racing across the lake or getting stuck in a down pour. Was a little nervous when I first opened it and felt the material but it is very sturdy and held up amazingly well. Drys quickly and folds up so small. Like that it has it's own storage bag. Would definitely buy again.
When selecting a breathable parka, consider features such as moisture-wicking materials, ventilation systems, and adjustable components like hoods and cuffs. Look for parkas that balance insulation with breathability to ensure comfort during various activities. Additionally, check for waterproof or water-resistant capabilities to protect against the elements.
Breathable parkas are often made from synthetic fabrics like nylon or polyester, which provide durability and water resistance. Many also incorporate advanced technologies such as Gore-Tex or similar membranes that enhance breathability while keeping moisture out. Insulation materials can vary, with options ranging from down to synthetic fills, depending on the desired warmth and weight.
Breathable parkas are designed to perform well in a variety of weather conditions, particularly in cold and wet environments. Their moisture-wicking properties help regulate body temperature and keep you dry during physical activities. However, it's essential to choose a parka that matches the specific climate and conditions you expect to encounter.
To find the right size for a breathable parka, refer to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer and measure your chest, waist, and hips. Consider the intended use; if you plan to layer underneath, you may want to opt for a slightly larger size. Additionally, pay attention to the fit type, as some parkas are designed for a more relaxed fit while others are more tailored.
Breathable parkas are versatile and can be used for a range of activities, including hiking, skiing, and everyday wear in cold weather. Their ability to wick moisture and provide insulation makes them ideal for outdoor adventures where temperature regulation is crucial. Additionally, they can be suitable for urban environments during winter months, offering both style and functionality.
Breathable parkas differ from traditional insulated jackets primarily in their focus on moisture management and ventilation. While both provide warmth, breathable parkas are designed to allow for better airflow, making them ideal for active use. Traditional jackets may offer more insulation but can trap heat and moisture, which may not be suitable for high-energy activities.
