[ This poncho packs to half the size and the weight is about 10% less than any of the inexpensive ponchos that I have used in the past. I 'm more of a weekend warrior, so I tend to hit the trail when weather forecasts are fair, but I always want to bring some kind of rain protection. I like ponchos because they cover my pack, which also allows more airflow and ventilation. I do n't know that I will ever use the tarp function, but I like that this poncho has eyelets for use as a temporary shelter.

[ This thing is great! I no longer need to bring a heavy rain jacket jic for summer in the Sierras. I ’ ve only had to use it as a tarp for shade so far and it performed perfectly. I did wear it as a mosquito shield for a while too. No rain yet but I have no doubt this will keep me dry enough for the majority of showers we see here in California.

I love how this blanket can be used in so many scenarios as previous reviews have stated. I use it for camping to keep warm by the fire, on warmer nights where a sleeping bag is too much or even as a camping pillow when it's packed up. Take it out on a hike to lay down on during breaks or for your picnic it's perfect and light for that too. I 've even used it in the car on road trips to sleep in the backseat, at sporting events on cold nights and as a extra layer of warmth for my baby in their stroller. I can go on and on on the uses but now the quality; if you know their products you know a thin light jacket by North face can still pack a punch of warmth and comfort well this blanket does the same thing. My biggest plus about this blanket is that I have dogs and my blankets are always saturated with dog hair but because this material is like a sleeping bag it does n't hold any hair and is moisture wicking making it super easy to wipe off and clean, which might not be the case if you have the fleece sided one but mine is not. Overall I love it's uses and compact ability great product
